  1. I wouldnt even bother with that - they usually rot from the inside out in my experience.
  2. Looking good. It's always pleasing to remove s**t rusty parts and put new shiny ones on!
  3. You only live once tone - do it Even if you just have it for the summer.
  4. If you want that kind of 2 seater experience maybe save yourself some cash and look at a cheaper westfield or one of the other clone kits. Personally - i would be all over a bike engined one - not fussed on the name! http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bike-powered-cars/cars/mk-indy-2008/2232931?isexperiment=true I think i will take the plunge at some stage when i get a bigger garage
  5. Having been brought up on Knight Rider and occasionally looking at stuff like this (sometimes i toy with the idea of a american car and thought i could get one like this) i have to say this isn't the best recreation i have seen on the face of it. Some of the better ones just look more believable (attention to detail) and actually make the right sounds - tones when the keypad is pressed, no maplins switchgear, working equalizer for kitt, scanner noise when kitts looking for enemies.... The lambo doors are unforgivable. They can be true fans if they put them on it imo!!
  6. if it were me i would give it an extended 'Italian Tune-up' and then do it right after that. Thats just me!
  7. dip stick hole ? if there is no service schedule i would just go over the top then. At least you know you have done whatever you can.
  8. How much are they ? I would be inclined to do oil and filter now and oil and filter again at the next change. Also - if its 'sealed for life' you might want to check and see if the drain/filler plugs are reusable.
  9. Or if you want to make it even more interesting - get a minter over from japan Can shop online and then you have a month or two wait until it lands and you can enjoy the anticipation
  10. They are a nice looking wheel for a standard rim. Suits the car nicely and easy to clean!
  11. if it was anything like mine as standard he might need some new wing mirrors due to the roll Toyos are a decent all round for sure. Just remember the will take a few miles to get rid of the slippy releasing agent so they will only get better.
  12. The oil in my S3 is supposedly sealed for life. I dont believe it can still be working optimally. Going change mine out soon as the gears are bit crunchy when cold.
  13. Nice work mate - making good progress in making it sweet !
  14. I bought a cheaper 12v impact gun recently to use on wheels and also to try and remove the front towing eye without shearing the bolts as they are notorious. Too early to tell but from what i can see it worked well in loosening off wheel nuts (finish with the brace), and tightening up seemed to be not bad either. Has an adjustable torque gauge with display also. Its one of these ones thats spins up for a second or so and uses the power/inertial from a flywheel to drive a single impact and then wind itself up again. I'll let you know how i get on with it as it was only £35. I run it off a jump start pack i have. Might be a good one for you for occasional use.
  15. did mine around the same - didnt even think about it
  16. that last right hander before the pits catches everyone out - its got positive camber so the cars go light under power and was the perfect recipe for oversteer. I loved that corner! you saw how much fun it was standard so you will have a great time playing
  17. dont be vain. track it as is first so you know whats what. I went to bedford twice plus that s***ty airfield day totally standard before i actually did anything! It'll be hilarious fun as standard !
  18. nice. i have a go pro HD style action camera i am going to mount and use as well. Just need to find a mount that doesnt wobble the camera!!!
  19. Nothing set in stone yet - its mainly dependant on me getting the car sorted and MOT'd. i think the others are ready. I can start a new event thread when we have an idea but it will probably be a friday/saturday and an open pit lane so we can go out whenever.
  20. admittedly i was standard (same discs and pads and standard lines) last time i was on track and wasn't able to get any fade on some big stops from 100+ mph. Now i have braided lines i expect to be closer to the limit but still ok despite slowing down from around 120mph or so. I am generally pretty light on braking technique and clutch work which is probably the reason why they have lasted so well. I think the technique also factors in in terms of heat soak etc. Me macca and my other friend rich are due to hit the track in our wagons in may sometime (maybe bedford or brands) so that will be the true test. But based on what i have done so far i think i will be ok. If anyone else wants to come along with their cars or watch etc they are more than welcome.
