  1. numpty question : whats "steady state"
  2. entry / exit any large sweeps and understeer creeps in, lifting off to correct but thats loosing time !
  3. in an effort to reduce understeer on the starlet i was advised to fit a rear ARB many reports state that its one of the best handling mods to carry out so duly ordered and fitted a rear ARB, not one to do things by half i also ordered an uprated front ARB, until then it was running a not so uprated front ARB the difference was....no difference to be honest and still suffering from understeer this is contrary from many good reports on how much better it should have been so my thoughts are maybe that by uprating the front ARB it counteracted uprating the rear next thoughts were by fitting the not so uprated front ARB back to see what differences it might make question time: Is there a relationship between front and rear ARB's and understeer/oversteer ? Is it feasible that one counteracted the other ?
  4. best get the spoons out ! actually get the plastic spoons out just to be sure whichever way you do it Tony I think pics of the event would be good to see

    TOYO R888's

6 rounds of the Sprint Series averaging 10laps @ 2 miles so around 120 miles ! wear on the inside would be down to the amount of camber approx -1.5, which is to be expected heat and delaminating on the outside would say not enough camber, which is detremental to grip and costs seconds so another set needed and more camber i think

    Chopped Springs

I remember years ago they did spring clamps which would either compress or expand the springs to give a lowered or higher stance not seen them for years though
  13. they dont teach anything on your test I had the joys of learning to drive over winter, my instructor turned up one day in thick snow, gleefully stating this would be the best lesson i would have !! I believe now that it was, but at the time I was crapping myself !
  14. When you say the right tyres for AWD do you mean winter ones? So what about a RWD car that has the engine at the rear, would that behave the same as a FWD only in the opposite way? I thought my tyres were flattening the snow when I got out and looked at the tracks, they're 215 wide. They don't have much tread left...about 2mm from the marker so probably not enough to dig in. most SUV's for example have hi performance sport tyres which are next to useless in snow, think typical land rover with big chunky tread off road tyres they are good in snow my CRV has 245 wide tyres and are only a month old, they just do not grip at all, yet in normal conditions they stick like glue rear engined RWD wouldnt be as good as FWD as the steering wheels would not have the weight over them or driving force, RWD drive would tend to understeer, the disadvantages of FWD in normal and high speed driving becomes an advantage in snow its easier to pull something through snow than it is to push it !
  15. AWD is great if you use the right tyres, waste of time otherwise FWD is better than RWD as the weight is over the driving wheels thin tyres with a deep tread are better, they dig in wide sports tyres are useless, they flatten the snow and make for a bigger surface to slip on
  16. Too many clues there? Only to the wise ones..... counts me out then....i havent got a clue
