    A typical complaint

The wheels are not OEM and like you say since no printout was given the owner had no evidence to complain I know it's not the job of the customer but did they not say the wheels weren't OEM? But then thinking about it the majority will assume it wouldn't matter. Just goes to show how much the customer can get ripped off because someone doesn't have much knowledge except looking at the book/computer and doing what it says!

Are the different width wheels standard then? Surely they should have known that or it would be with the other information on the car? If no printout is given by the previous garage I suppose they have no grounds for a refund as they can't prove what they set it at?
  3. Cheers guys Like to say thanks to Tony for giving me this opportunity I won't promise I can work miracles but I will promise to do my best and get some good discounts for the club Looking forward to moderating all of you as well!! Ahmet I will PM you tomorrow regarding an email address
  4. Why do you want raise it though? You got problems with it lowered then? Can't complain about mine, looks better, handles better and not had any problems. Got a pull to the left at the moment though but that's the lower arm
  5. PMSL did she forget which pedal is the brake!
  6. How do these rosejoints work then? Do you have to get them specially made?
  7. If spacers are used then this pushes the wheel outwards, so for example an average offset for a Ford wheel is ET35, 10mm spacers would make this ET25 so I thought it would actually make the handling worse? That thread was for MK5 and 6 escorts not mondeo's, so does the same still apply regarding negative camber? If the car had 17" wheels and was lowered 35mm would this cause any major issues with tyre wear as they seem to think it does? I'd imagine the chassis of the escort is similar to the mondeo and mine is lowered 30mm on 17" wheels and I haven't noticed any major wear. However, the offset of my wheels are ET42 so could this help compensate for the negative camber?
  8. Tony, what do you make of this thread - Link Now I had 17's on my escort but it wasn't lowered, I had no wear issues at all. There is another thread on there about the inside tyres wearing by around an inch cos it's been lowered 35mm, do you think it is right?
  9. Tempting mate but it's staying standard, insurance will be enough with a learner on it!!!
  10. Both the rear ones on the pug I have keep going down, one worse than the other. It's only used once or twice a week so they can get pretty flat quickly. I'm assuming it's the beading or valve but just wondering if I should replace them as they've been pumped up a few times now and I'm worried the tyre wall may have become damaged?
  11. Yeah they're very easy, other half's dad did it in half hour. He then got rid of the car for the newer scenic and the shock went on that soon after getting it. Luckily they replaced it on warranty though, he only went over a speed bump. Does seem to be a weak spot...
  12. Your so cruel Who me! Try some cif on it Jamie, that's what I used when I had a stainless on me escort, works a treat
  13. Someone round my way drives a big bently with the plate B19 GUV. Saw this round the corner last year aswell
  14. As said mate looking good Still think you need some metal polish though!!
  15. I can't see garages spending money on a geometry report to sell a car when I'd imagine alot of customers wouldn't even know what it is. It is a good idea but not one I can see them going for.
  16. Great post Tony I know what you mean about over inflating low profile tyres causes tram lining. I put mine on 34psi once and the handling was terrible. Dropped them to 32psi and all was well again. I was amazed at how 2psi can make that much difference!
  17. So when you've seen tyres in this kind of state would you say it was more women or men who fail to check them? Could make some interesting market research...
  18. Out of curiosity does the car belong to a man or woman and how old would you say they are?
  19. No, not unless the change in size is part of the guide table.... I think i need to open a thread explaining why there is such a diverse area for tyre pressures. Good idea...as I'd like to know how you work out how much air to put into a non standard sized tyre.
  20. Doesn't take a minute to turn the wheels to full lock and check the tread!!! You'd think it would be the obvious thing to check...
  21. Do the pressures in the handbook still apply if you change the wheel size though?
  22. When I first got my mondeo one of the drop links was so worn the rubber boot had perished and the ball joint just popped out. It was the original one as well I think. Have to agree though they knock loudly when worn, I noticed it going over speed bumps and dips in the road more.
  23. I thought steering racks were in fixed positions?
  24. Thought you were happy with the ones you got mate! Do like Khans though
