  1. Shaz. Already been back in the air.. Proper fix done too . I have also done some FPV (first person view) with her. Basically a small camera and a video tx on the glider with an RX and goggles on my head! Its quite odd but very satisfying. Took her about 1 mile away from me without any signal degradation.. I lost my bottle and turned back !
  2. Yup. Most people have scores of batteries. With the bigger quads the motors dont get hot so you can run multiple battery packs back to back. The smaller hubsan x4's motors are brushed motors and they get warm after 5 min of flying. Most people advise letting them cool before flying again as being 7mm brushed they are quite delicate

    My E60 530i

Thats beemer looks stunning after its wash!
  4. My 250 quad gets 7 minutes. Then a 20 min charge
  5. Flight time is around 5-7 minutes depending what your doing.. Charge time is a dismal 40 min (i have purchased 2 spares) because of this
  6. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009M1PO7W/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?qid=1440928093&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX110_SY165&keywords=hubsan+x4+h107c&dpPl=1&dpID=41t7bEhhZjL&ref=plSrch
  7. Tony spend £2 on the hubsan x4.. The one i linked to on amazon. If you can get to grips with that then go further
  8. Its only as easy as you make it Tony. The gyros can be completely turned of via a switch on your controller. This then means your flying with no artificial help. Its called 'acro' mode. Angle mode is similar to acro apart from it wont let you bank the quad more than a pre determined angle (set up by the user in the gui) Horizon mode is where the gyros are fully functional and do most of the work.. I.e self level etc. Horizon is perfect for a beginner as its super smooth to fly but at the same time it rather frustrating as you dont have full control of the quad.
  9. A gyro is an electronic spirit level.. But there are also control loops that correct any non inputs from the user... I.e the gyro can correct for wind gusts
  10. The hubsan x4 ( what you should buy first before spending 10x the price on a bigger one) has gyros on the flight controller board. My big helicopter has this on it as a flight controller board. It has 6 axis gyros. The more expensive version has a barometer, gyros, gps and a few other additions but to me it wasnt worth double the cost. http://www.radioc.co.uk/mobile/Product.aspx?id=37747
  11. Smarty.i would always advise someone to get a micro quad first they are about £20 on amazon now. They are a very good introduction in to how quads fly and what you can do with them.. And they are pretty robust and very cheap to fix. With the 250carbon quad things happen faster and will be more expensive to fix
  12. Also apart from the size different size and knowledge that it will do serious damage if you hit someone.. Its really bo different from the hubsan
  13. The hubsan x4 is around 95mm diagonally from motor to motor centre. The big one is 250mm. The hubsan has gyros but you cant turn them off only down.with the big one it does have a flight controller but you can turn them totally off which is a werid experience. If you turn off the gyros and angle the copter forward at 30 degrees it will stay at that angle until you correct it.
  14. Well on my birthday my wife gave me a little quad copter (hubsan x4) its flippinbrilliant.. By far the most fun i have had with any toy ever. Anyway... I was bitten by the quad bug.... And have built myself this: Its a 250 size quad.. All carbon frame 25A speed controllers blah de blah.... Anyway..so far i have only taken it out for a few careful hover flights whilst its being set up.. Scarey.... But fun
  15. Strikes on planes are a daily occurrence... Nothing to worry about. Same as if lightning strikes your car... As long as your not directly touching the metal work with your foot on the ground.. Your fine
  16. On the front that's fine but you can't always put stands on the rear so they have to go on the sills. Your jacking up the rear wrong then . Even on cars with a rear bean I have never used a silk to Jack or for axle stands
  17. I guess so. Really it's his choice as what to do and if OEM is the way he wants to go then so be it. OEM stuff isn't bad, it's just very over priced
  18. Screw you guys! I'm outta here!
  19. I personally Will never touch height adjustable coilovers again. They have always been more trouble than they are worth. I would rather have a damper than I can adjust bump and rebound and have a non adjustable ride height
  20. Tony. Would a non OEM shock spring combo be better and cheaper than OEM? There are companies that offer fixed ride height and damping shock sets that offer a small drop and a little firmer ride. Basically updated OEM stuff? Like spax , h&r, koni etc
  21. Hmmm yes Tony, but what's the cost difference? My personal experience with coilovers is they have a fairly hard ride. With a good shock/spring combo is near OEM albeit a bit stiffer with a drop
