  1. So some good news, it looks like my battery is fine! I used my CTEK tender to revive it a few months ago, and then due to being busy just left it sat in the garage for probably 2 months. Put it in the car last weekend and it started straight away and is running perfectly so it looks like the battery is still holding charge. I need to look at wiring in the solar charger properly, but in the mean time would something like this do the job to quickly and easily isolate the battery when I'm going to be leaving the car unused for long periods? http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/car-battery-chargers/richbrook-dis-carnect-battery-immobiliser
  2. That's a great price, is that fully fitted? I've been using PS3s on the Lexus for a few years and it's a great tyre. I assume the PS4 is even better but I'd highly recommend the PS3. I think the Super Sport would be overkill on cars like these, but not the PS3.
  3. Jeez assumed that was a work car park or something, that happened in Costco car park in the day time?
  4. Mine was ages ago, back in 2005 but in a carjacking so they had the keys. As Rich says if it's keyless start it must be similar to all the recent BMW and Range Rover thefts where they use the OBD port to program a new key literally in seconds. I thought most manufacturers had closed up that issue but maybe not.
  5. Damn that's awful mate, are they easy to steal without the keys? Getting in I could understand, but didn't think it was that easy to get cars started nowadays. Yes a bizarre car to steal as well Back when my Lexus was stolen all those years ago we never really got into the discussion as the car was unharmed and hadn't gone far at all - I think it's quite difficult to reject the car but not impossible, if you really don't want it back then kick up a fuss about it and see how far you get. Try and settle as soon as possible though, hope you get a decent settlement.
  6. Wow that's surprising. That's an interesting precedent though isn't it, as surely means you cannot fit anything other than the manufacturer's recommended tyre?
  7. Seriously? Then surely anyone who fits budget ditchfinders should suffer the same fate? Got to say the whole tyre situation needs to be assessed a lot more, it's so important for cars to have good tyres on them, shouldn't be able to fit any old rubbish. I'm close to needing new rears on the 360 and I'm still torn as to whether to get the OEM P Zeros or switch to the Michelin Super Sports which pretty much everyone says are miles better!
  8. If you compared a standard SP Sport 01 and an SP Sport 01 MO - what would actually be the difference? Is it a different rubber compound? Or the loading? Decided to do the refurb too so going to get these guys to do it - they have Merc wheels they can lend out which means the car can stay on the road http://www.fawheels.co.uk/
  9. That's the thing I didn't trust HiQ had. Trying to decide whether to use this as an excuse to get the wheels refurbed - they're in dire need of one so it makes sense!
  10. Camskill were the only people who had it, and delivered it yesterday. Will hopefully get it fitted on the weekend. HiQ claimed to have it, but they have history of pretending to have things they don't so didn't want to take the risk.
  11. The Merc - it's a Dunlop SP Sport 01 (MO fitment)
  12. It's to mark them out as something different so as to not steal sales away from normal cars. Also hippy types like to make a statement. Agreed though, in particular the new Prius is the most hideous thing on the roads! Then Tesla came along and made them realise how stupid they've been, so watch them all slowly start to make proper electric cars
  13. Yeah it's just bad luck, I've been quite lucky with punctures over the last few years so it had to catch up with me some time. Interestingly though among my friends there have been several punctures over the last few months - say something about the current state of our roads perhaps? It's a bit too close to the edge for comfort so haven't even bothered to check about a repair, have just ordered a new tyre. Bizarrely no one has them in stock except Camskill (which was lucky!), Dunlop has them on backorder and expected delivery is 8 weeks!
  14. Set out yesterday morning to run some errands and after 10 mins the tyre pressure warning goes nuts. No obvious issues but could feel the passenger rear corner feeling a bit off so stop the car and have a look - wasn't completely flat thankfully so I could limp home but 2 screws in the same tyre! Tyre pressure sensors can be quite useful - I was about 2 mins from jumping on a dual carriageway so glad to have them!
  15. That's awesome that those are available directly in the camera, nice little feature!
  16. Will be interesting to see how it turns out - I'm slightly confused as to whether this is a rival for the new NSX or lower down the range as it claims the BMW equivalent will be the replacement for the Z4. So is this targeting the Cayman?
  17. That looks awesome if it actually looks like that, and if it has BMW handling it might be sweet to drive too. Will reserve judgement on the powertrain but sounds interesting. How odd is it that they're using the Toyota brand for the clever eco stuff, and over at Lexus they're basically building muscle cars
  18. Thanks Sagitar, so it isn't a lot of post processing then which is what I expected - I'd love to get to that too where the shot straight off the camera is what I want but seem to be a long way away from that so far! Probably need to look in more detail at the various settings in my camera and make some tweaks, I'll report back if I make any progress
  19. I've never really noticed the wing mirrors before! They do look a bit weird, similar to the ones on the Zonda. I wonder if that was to make a feature out of them or to get better visibility because the back of the car is so wide.
  20. Wow - that is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen! http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-ferrari/first-shots-of-laferrari-aperta/34510
  21. Hmmm, while I could tick those boxes I'm not sure what value the FOC would agree to on mine - in which case perhaps someone like Admiral is better because you can just argue with them based on other cars for sale and get a similar amount. For a bonafide classic it's different, but for something like mine it's still fairly clear from the market what its value is.
  22. Main thing is it should be a lot cheaper! I've also been told it's cheaper to get agreed value on a classic policy compared to a normal one.
