  1. Sorry to bring this up again, but car went into Lexus today and it's come back out again with no obvious fault. They said to check disc runout and mentioned to check whether the discs are sitting flush against whatever they sit against? Any chance I could bring the car back in sometime for you to take a look at it again and give it a quick once over? If there was time I could take you out in it and show you what it's like - at motorway speeds the judder is sometimes uncomfortable for passengers as well as myself
  2. That Ferrari is gorgeous, horrible wheels (weren't those older ones on wire wheels?) but absolutely stunning car Bad luck for the cobra, did he do much damage to the wheel?
  3. Two gorgeous cars there, absolutely love the cobra, can't imagine what it's like to live with and maintain, but a stunning car.........remember the first time I saw a Zagato on the road, thought someone had made a right mess of a DB7 until I looked it up and found out it was a real car! Don't think the rear is awful if it was on a different car (Marcos maybe?) but the DB7 is such a good looking car (one of my favourites) that it was a shame to see one looking like that
  4. That paintwork looks seriously good, don't think I've ever seen a mondeo look like that!
  5. Nice one mate, literally living the dream!
  6. Apparently he sued the race organisers for how badly it was dealt with and won (not sure how much though) but he was injured enough to not be able to race again. Yep I think they needed to get the helmet off asap, as the visor was melting onto his face (which from that pic looks really bad)
  7. Damn that's what I was expecting, nevermind will send it into Lexus and see what happens
  8. Sorry to revive this old thread, but haven't used the car a lot recently and haven't had the time to get it checked out so this brake judder thing is still there and as annoying as ever (thankfully I don't do a lot of motorway driving though and that's where it's most irritating) The car's almost due a service and I was going to get Lexus to give it a good check over and tell them not to give it back to me until they'd sorted it! However, doesn't seem like the best strategy though (especially as far as my wallet is concerned) so just wanted to run it by you again. The vibration is definitely under braking, the one on acceleration seems to have gone so not sure what caused that. On the motorway braking at high speed is not very comfortable at all, it doesn't feel dangerous, and the steering isn't jumping around, but nevertheless the vibration is very uncomfortable. I was actually thinking the other day that you didn't actually look at the car yourself, while I'm sure the other Tony probably did a great job I was wondering if you wouldn't mind casting your learned eyes over the report from when I had the geo done a few months ago - does anything on it look odd? I was planning to bring it in for a finetune after the service, but might bring it in before if you'd like to take a look at the car yourself.
  9. That's crazy, the edge of the rim has snapped off? Budget tyres on a £100k+ car.......absolutely ridiculous, especially when there's that much power going through them........
  10. Bloody hell, was not expecting that at all, can't believe they all survived!
  11. Really? I didn't know that, that's great news
  12. That's shocking, it really is worrying how many dodgy garages there are out there and the industry really has no regulation whatsoever (I know it's not the only one but it's harsh anyway)
  13. Think I might get one of these, wish I'd thought of it before I had all new tyres fitted last year........Tony how much would it cost to have all the tyres removed, have the sensors fitted and then refit the tyres? The tyresure one is definitely the one to go for then if the valve is detachable from the sensor.........aren't the valves metal? And isn't it recommended to replace metal valves each time you have your tyres changed? £80 extra every time I change a tyre is not an expense I'm too keen on!
  14. I quite like those, it's a really cool gadget plus has a practical use! Do the pressure sensors have batteries in them? How does it work exactly as it's obviously wireless to the main unit? Also what's better about the Hella unit compared to the tyresure one? Aesthetically it looks a bit better, but the tyresure shows all 4 tyres at once which should be more useful? Btw, it's only $200 in the US so that's some mark-up over here!
  15. I tend to do what Tony says, except the ones that looks massive and will end up scraping against the bottom of the car.........those ones just slow to a crawl and take them with one side of the car full on.
  16. Damn, although seeing as it was a range rover driver, probably thought it was running on runflats
  17. Got to admire the project but that thing looks scary as hell! Give me one of those and you'd struggle to get me over the speed limit
  18. Not sure on these....... Independent i would have thought? I thought ABS was just an "on-off" type system, same as pumping the brake pedal. It's only electronic brake distribution that actually alters brake bias and brakes wheels individually........
  19. Lol, and the rest of us too I can't imagine they cause that many crashes though, especially compared to all those people that have tyres that really should have been replaced a long while ago........
  20. Yeah it's a tough one, but the only thing it could clear up is whether the drury machine is telling the truth or not........if another machine shows something up as being way out, then there would be something to look into..........the best option obviously it to bring it down to Tony to check it over Good idea there though, a spirit level should show up any obvious difference - another would be to use a ruler to measure horizontally from the wheel to the arch to see if one wheel has more camber than the other.
  21. Perhaps they knew something was wrong all along then but were trying to pass it off.........hope the owner gets a decent outcome.
  22. If the wheels are visibly out, but the machine still thinks it's fine, is there not something weird going on? Personally I'd want to get it on another machine to start with, just to see if it says the same thing.......
  23. I wouldn't to be honest, a blow out could have you off the road at speed, on runflats you can happily drive on them in pretty much 100% safety......... I don't know a lot about these track day tyres, but aren't they really unsafe in the wet? Having said that though, I'd rather see half the old bangers off the road before they start stopping things like this which probably barely ever cause a single accident.
  24. This is promising for an interesting debate, can't wait to see what you come up with
  25. That is impressive, from the safety perspective there really is nothing bad to say about runflats, they are brilliant.
