old cruiser
Does anyone know what the colour code paint marks mean on the front springs for a Renault clio MK2 1.2 16V; had a broken one and bought some new ones which I've fitted , but did notice that the originals have a yellow and red coding on them whereas the new ones have no markings at all, now starting to think that it could be a strength related thing and if that is the case then the new ones may not be up to the job? Bazza
I know that Lexus used to mark the springs but cant remember exactly weather it was spring rates or something else

Tony
Red= gas dampers Yellow= oil Aftermarket coils are intended as a compromise offering a basic overall rebound resistance.

Thanks Tony, so would appear then, that it has Gas and oil in the shockers , I don't know what a state to get into and on a basic clio as well!!
