Tony
Customer in today noted we approve the 3mm limit in regard to that's a spent tyre, UK limit 1.6mm. He was prepared to change the tyres on that recommendation but since he had 3.75 and 3.95 at the rear he was advised to wait a while...... Nice to know that the public do listen and act on the solid advice we try to explain.
MondeoGhiaX
wow, you can measure tread depth down to 5/100ths of a millimetre? impressive! anyway, just to think, the uk minimum used to be 1mm. now its 1.6mm. how long before its 3mm... but where is this going to end? isnt 5mm safer than 3mm? why has 3mm become the accepted minimum now? Tony
Because 3mm and under the stopping distance is rapidly increased, above 3mm is even better but really catering for extreme weather conditions.
parthiban
Good to know, it's amazing with all the safety c**p they put out to charge us more money for stuff, the legal limit for tyres has stayed the same (obviously because they don't make any money out of tyres) When you think about how little tread 1.6mm is, I wouldn't want to hit a puddle with it that low!
