Here is a picture of her latest knitted jumper, which makes the point better than I could.For a living she works for a company that makes industrial x-ray machinery, the kind of very precise stuff that checks quality control in the manufacture of large scale integrated circuits, or chips as they have come to be known. She's a software architect and designs real-time software used in the control of the machines.Each year, at Christmas the company holds a fun competition in which the staff are invited to provide a mystery object that can be x-rayed. From the x-ray image, the other staff must try to identify the object.My daughter crocheted and submitted a tiny representation of a snowflake, using thread with a stainless steel core so that it would show up in an x-ray. She did it all under a large magnifier using a crotchet hook of about 0.5 mm diameter and it won the competition.
