Best thing to do with the locking rings is to tighten them agains each other, not just the bottom one. You will need two c spanners for this though. Tighten the top one down and the bottom one up, if that makes sense! h
  8. We've seen a couple of the mk1 BBRs at WIM. They tend to be kinda rusty by now.... They were the original UK fitment as for the BBR or Le Mans 5. Designed as a dealer fit, which could be specified at time of purchase. BBR have developed a new system system, for the Mk 1 or Mk3 iirc, believe it's available as a turnkey option or kit. http://www.planetmx5.com/forum/viewtopic.p...&highlight=. Post 6 on the above thread has some more info. To clarify, the BBR conversion for the mk 3 is supercharger. The mk1 is a turbo.
  9. I gather BBR will have a Mark 1 and Mark 3 at Beuleigh (sp) at the mx5oc meet. Planet are also organising a trip to the BBR factory. H
  10. Another WIM win! There was an article in I think Track Driver mag about the suspension and replacing it with GAZ on the Arbarth 500. Derek got a mention as the suspension technician! h
  11. There is also a nice route into Geneva airport, where the approach to runway takes you through the mountains with a 90 degree turn on approach.Amazing! h
  12. Don't forget as the bucket fill up it will get heavier! So what if the roof firm went bust, it's the landlords problem, you just want it fixed. h
  13. He's alredy got it up on Planet. h
  14. Nice one Sean, Suggestion, get some clear waxoyl and coat the shock body with it especially in the area of the adjusters. Keeps the crap out. reapply when you adjust. h
  15. Yes they do lots of research, but then they build a car to a price so then have to compromise somewhere. h
  16. How adjustable is the Smart for 2 chassis? As the car has no spare, what are the views on ultraseal . The stuff you put in the wheel before you have a puncture? h
  17. You can normally hear the noise they make. Did they not even hear anything? h
  18. Great news Tony, I will give you a call tomorrow and arrange a date to book in a visit! Let me know when Sean, if I can, I'll pop over at the same time to watch! h
  19. Anyone remember Smiffy in the Beano? (No it's not Smiffy, but the one in the green jumper with his nose and head stuck over the neckband of his jumper?) - Got it Wilfred! That boxer is dancing around and the Simon Cowell waistband of his shorts isn't moving? h
  20. ? Clicking on the black box works for me! h

  22. Had a great day at Bedford with Lotus on Track. The day, as you may have read elsewhere got off to an auspicious start, however, no real damage to the Hornet, the front bumper paint is crazed and there are brown streaks of wood preserver around. At least the hornet will not suffer from woodworm! Anyway, a description Bedford GT circuit. Exit the pit lane takes you to Hangar haripin. This leads to Palmer Curves, a chicane that runs into a sweeping left hander. Palmer Curves can be taken with a feathered throttle in 4th applying power on the exit, hold into the left and take the unnamed right hander at full throttle, keep on the throttle to pif-paf still at full throttle in 4th. Down into third for Bank, a not too tight hairpin. Down into second if you can manage it. Now you have the long back straight leading to The Flick. I found it better to drive through The Flick in third rather than feather the throttle and coast through. Approaching the flick I was approaching the rev limiter in 4th normally around an indicated 95 mph, if I had been in second at the bank then I was approaching the flick at around 100! Exiting the flick back into 4th and flat out through harrier 1 down into 3rd for the unamed bend after harrier 2, left hander in 3rd. Short straight to another left hander which lead up to a tight hairpin then a sweeping right hander down the runway. Difficulty here was picking out the correct cones as the cones either side of the track and the apex cone were all identical. Down the straight to o'rouge right to the right hander at tower, again flat in 4th onto the starting straight. There's plenty of run out on all corners so you can be more agressive. After lunch, one of the guys, Tim whom I had been sprinting wth last year took me out for a couple of laps in his elise. What an eye opener! He showed me that I could put a lot more into my driving, and I'm sure my laps after that were a lot quicker than before. Actually managed an overtake or two as well, and MG and an Elise! (Well the Elise wasn't being driven at 10 10th's). Both the overtakes are on the attached video. Click the black screen below for the video to start. h
