  1. Make sure it's drawn against a good, known bank. (Ask them which bank the draft will be drawn on.) I seem to remeber something about a bank not honouring a bankers draft because of problems with the issuing bank... Check with your own bank, ask them what you should check before accepting the draft. Ask how long it would be before your account is credited. They should also be able to tell you who's drafts they accept. Take the draft to the bank and pay it in before releasing the goods. Ideally, get the money before you get the special order items, so you don't have to faff around returning stuff if the payment should fail. Oh, and make sure you know who you are dealing with, not just mobile phone number, get embassy number, phone it and ask to speak to him, prove to yourself he does represent the embassy and is actually who he says he is. Don't ask me how I know all these things, it's a long story! h
  2. Make sure you get the money up front. I mean money, folding stuff, not cheque (Can be canceled before your account is credited, 5 working days after the cheque is paid in) or credit card (Company doesn't pay or a claim is made against you and the CC company takes the funds from your account) Embassies have a funny position in the UK. Embassies are on foreign soil, and not subject to the law of the country they are in. It is possible for an Embassy to pull out of the contract/payment and your only appeal is to the Ambassador, you'd have no or very little recourse in the UK to get the money. Be very careful! Remember also, the Ambassadors cars usually have the reg mark to show the country along the lines of ZIM 1 for Zimbabwe and has posts on the bonnet for flags. h

  4. See: http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/info/ringcard.html and http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/prices.html which is probably a little out of date but I think the Euro 22 is about right for a one off lap. h
  5. Not April 1st yet is it? No doubt mounting pressures will be above normal, will the BOSS handle it? h

  9. Working, 4.30 am start thanks to the clocks... I should be good to go this afternoon but i won't drink-drive no matter how good the car, it's my own fault and i hold my hand up to that! You deserved a night off mate, I'm sure the car will still be there this afternoon :lmaosmiley: Aggreed..... I let my hair down a little to far last night..... Really enjoyed it but i won't drink drive ( over the limit ) the next day for whatever reason. My head is dizzy and i know i'm not "sober" in the sense i can drive within the law. But how do you know the settings on the loan machine are correct? h
  16. Last in class by a long way. 82nd out of 84 competitors. Faster than a Mini and Jensen tho'. Derek turned up and offered some suggestions. At this stage I'm not sure of the things I need to change. There is so little time to test and change things. I think I need to soften the suspension, maybe loose some air from the front tyres, I was 30psi all around. I need to have a look to see how the tyres have stood up. I'd like these tyres to last the season as these are my tyres, not the Hornets! As I said the other day, I want to leave the alignment where it is, otherwise we'll keep changing every couple of weeks. The variables will be tyres, pressures and suspension. That will be enough for me to think about at the moment. Oh, and it was a really good day, great bunch of guys in my class, excellent organisation by Borough 19. Really enjoyed it. Roll on Honnington. h
  17. Blog updated with a report on yesterdays sprint and North Weald. Click on the North Weald sprint page on the right hand menu's. www.sprintingfive.wordpress.com Some photo's of the Lotus classes that I was in, and the Hornet, can be found here: http://www.mercury-photography.co.uk/galle...lasses-AL1-AL2/ h

  19. I have Honnington on18th April, so I'll give it a miss! h
  20. Yeah, really looking forward to this. I'm not expecting to win anything, bu tjust have a good time and improve my driving skills. I volunteered to take the trophys for the two LoT classes to North Weald as that's the only way I'd get my hands on one! If you have a better WIM logo Tony, let me have it and I'll replace the one I pinched from your website on the sponsors page. h
  21. After a couple of years taking the Hornet out on track and airfield days, I have decided to get a little more competetive. I am signed up to take the Hornet sprinting through Lotus on Track, (who I do my French track days with), who run two classes in the B19 sprint series. I will be running with Lotus Elises, so I do not expect to win the series, just have some fun and improve my driving skills along the way. The series starts this Sunday at North Weald. There are some tasty cars in the other classes, Ferrari OC will be there with 308's, 355, 430, 328, 348 and a Dino or two! I have created a blog at: http://sprintingfive.wordpress.com/ where you can follow the exploits of the Hornet and myself. h
  22. What became of this Tony? I'm assuming that you didn't accept the job as there are no follow up posts. h
  23. Good to see that the little snippets of info we put up are able to be found and to be useful. (well sort of!) h
