  1. I though run flat's had a sensor in the car that showed when you were in run flat mode? h
  2. More PSI would stiffen the tyrewall to make it less prone to roll over. Once it rolls over then steering becomes very... interesting What is the normal pressure for you? h
  3. Yep, a photographer was there taking some snaps, picture of me taking a corner with the base of the tyre gripping the road, but the wheel almost rolling over it ! Methinks more PSI all round! h
  4. That's the one, but unlike the drifters I don't do it intentionaly! h
  5. Nice vid. Seem to have a lot more cones out than they used to. I've also spun the Hornet at that corner as well! Like the WIM advertising as well! h
  6. Don't know about the no photographs... just read your last post and realise you mean at Hethel. Lotus won't allow cameras in case we photograph any new lotus mules/models that have yet to be announced. The Hethel test track is at the back of the factory, and I believe we drive through the factory to get there. There is a little bit of the Hornet leaving the line from Neal in the car that ran behind me. (Neal was second fastest in class 99.88 compared to my 116.46!) See: The first is my 2nd practice run and an example of how NOT to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-a83DFCxJ38 The second is my final and quickest run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-OVf0jOwKY I had 2psi above normal which was less than I had at North Weald. She handled better without the sidewall flex that I had at North Weald, which is why I'd upped the tyre pressures. From my video on the first hairpin you can see the Hornet has a little moment, but iirc that was down to me releasing the clutch as I had turned in, I think it's called torque steer? (Or c**k up in plain English!) As for an idea of speed, 12 o'clock on the speedo is 60. Just had a look at Neal's video again, In hindsight I knew I would probably be faster if I allowed the Hornet to drift to the right on the first corner, but then I saw that Neal was running to the outside of the corner marker, whereas I went to the inside. That's the trouble with sprinting you only get so many go's, unlike on track you can change your approach the next time around! Roll on Hethel! h
  7. The Honington sprint was last Sunday, I have updated the blog, but at the moment cannot find how to upload video onto the blog,(www.sprintingfive.wordpress.com) so I'lll post it here. Next Sprint will be at Hethel, the Lotus test track, on the 2nd. I may end up doing this in Lexie, my own supercharged 5, not the Hornet due to health issues with the Hornet. Photography is not allowed at Hethel so there will be no videos. h
  8. Tony is correct on that one as I found out to my cost last month! In my view it wouldn't do any harm to replace the O rings with every tyre change to save problems later. h
  9. Looks good Tony. Where does the queue start for rides in it? h
  10. I had a text from him tonight asking if i can pick it up Sunday....... After a few antinomical words we are back on track for tomorrow Whahey! Looking forward to seeing this. h
  11. Exactly that. You're getting predicatble Mr Bones! h
  12. What time on sat will TBO be at WIM central? H
  13. Bit more bumpf here: http://wiki.seloc.org/a/910_Engine h
  14. Is the reg a 'cherished' plate? J is 1971 before the elite was built? h
  15. Do you know what model it is? S3? h
  16. PS., where do we form the queue for a ride? h
  17. Nice one Tony, when do you get your hands on it? http://www.sinclairebodyshop.co.uk/contact.html is one advertiser on the SELOC forums. This name keeps popping up on the fora, so seems to be approved. I found this list on Lotus central, if you scroll down you get a list of independant garages, http://www.lotus-central.com/en/lotuslinks.html Nearest seems to be Stece Williams Sports Cars in Maidenhead. hth h
  18. hms

    Thanks

That sounds about right. WIM strikes again, another satisfied customer! h
  19. Did all that work then left the carpet in! h
  20. Some interesting reading here, shock and tyres and other stuff. http://farnorthracing.com/autocross_secrets6.html h
  21. Good luck, hope our worries are for nothing. h
  22. Thinking about this... they initially wanted run flats then changed to bullet proof tyres? fF they have a bullet proof car it will have bullet proof tyres already and that is what they would be ordering straight away not run flats. I'd think bulletproof tyres wouldn't be worth it on a non armoured car. Another question to ask yourself is why are they buying from you? Why not from the car manufacturer for the bulletproof tyres? Why a tyreshop that has no experience of these matters? (Sorry to be so blun!t) Sorry to sound negative in everything I've posted on this, but my antenna's are twitching. Just hope I'm wrong, and it's all good. h
