  1. Spent another 5hrs cleaning the engine bay Quite suprising the difference in how the engine bay looks from when i first got the car to how it looks now.. Quite a big improvement i think?? How it was when i first got the car.. And Now.. I like how the plastics have come up nice and white/clean looking again, which isn't too bad for a 15 year old motor? Just like the fan, if you look at the first pic above you can see how dirty it used to be? Fan soaking in cleaner/degreaser.. After..nice and white
  2. Anytime mate Just testing some homebrew cleaning stuff that i've mixed out of a few different brands, to see if it works on the lower parts of the engine So might have a few pic's later on how its done or not done
  3. Looking good mate, you could use the high build primer if you want to give it a bit more thickness? Just make sure you feather the edges of the primer before the top coat goes on mate, so that it doesnt leave the masking marks Great improvement though on how it was
  4. Cheers guys Going to try and get the lower parts of the engine cleaned today when it eventually cools down? want to clean off all the dirt that's built up around the block/alternator etc? might even take the alternator off and polish it when i get some more polishing gear
  5. Little update? Not really been able to do much to it recently due to lack of funds, but have polished another part and hope to do some more soon? This is the Intercooler pipe work that i've started, Before.. During After? still got to give it a final polish and i've still got to get the rest of the black powder coating off it at the welded joints (the ends of the pipe are not seen?) Fitted back on the engine... Also made a stainless relay box cover, that can just be seen in the top right of the picture with the red edging? Hope to get the larger pipe done very soon, just need to get some more polishing supplies sorted out so i can continue, and going to start swapping all the nuts/bolts etc for some nice shiny parts
  6. Mat/Tony be good to see you guys at the next one I took just over 700 photos over the weekend? i got there on the Thursday night and never left till late Sunday afternoon Is anyone going up to the Japshow Finale at Santa Pod on the 4th October?
  7. Looks like a nice motor mate, and its only up the road from me too if it is Telford?
  8. Wonder if my patented tyre rubber bands will work? pretty cheap too, all you need to do is go to Partners/Staples and buy the biggest bag of rubber bands you can, remove your tyres and wrap the hubs in the rubber bands? you might need a few packets but you can vary the amount for different sizes of wheel, giving you the low profile look if required, And now the good part? if any of the rubber bands snap while on the motorway you can just slip another couple on, saving time and effort and no more punctures, and you can even buy different colours of rubber bands so you can colour code them to your car/lorry, no more need to have just black rubber on your rims
  9. Its/you've done a great job mate You'll probably find after a good sand down most of the black bits will go, leaving you a nice clean surface to work with?
  10. That stuffs worked really well matey, bet you cant wait to get it painted up now Good job done mate
  11. Always have to get a couple of pic's of the WIM cars for you Tony Was a great weekend, They did have an incident with someone being stupid doing donuts, which ended up in a couple of cars getting damaged but i know its being taken care of by the parties concerned Hms, i didn't see many 5's about that i remember, there were a few driving around over the weekend but must of missed there stand if they had one? Sorry for not getting any pic's The Outlaw stand was very good and we had a good show of cars and members, and we also got quite a few great recommendations from the JAE team and John Fuggles the organiser plus a few other clubs, so was definitely good for the clubs image and were looking forward to the next one
  12. IS400 Engine Was good fun and cant wait till next year now
  13. Had a great weekend, and the new club did very well for its first major outing, Our Time Attack Go-cart champions
  14. The company is popular on detailing world which is where I read about them. Can't get into the sills but the Dynax S50 would be the thing to use I'm tempted to do the underneath but that will wait till next year now. Used a few of the bilt hamber products in the past, (cant afford them at the moment ) Looks good stuff though and look forward to seeing how it comes out
  15. Never heard of that stuff, i always used to use Jenolite gel rust remedy on my rusty minis? good stuff too Might be worth a coat of waxoil inside the sills too if you can get into them matey? Got a big job like that to do on my skyline soon, going to redo the underseal and paint all the metalwork under the car?
  16. Very nice matey, Thought i'd logged onto the wrong site
  17. Love the escort cossie's, will have one one day
  18. Thats a top job done there mate,
  19. Abit like the cyclo then - Linky I've used Menzerna and Poorboys polish, get great results...got some Meguiars #80 and #83 to try and some of the 3M range. Are you going for swirl removal or just the shine? I have to admire your dedication though, I've got alot of plans for mine but I never action them this quickly! Must find the time before the nasty weather comes. Yes mate the polisher is just a cheaper version of the cyclo, it does work very well too and it only cost me £30 brand new off ebay, there usually priced around the £130 mark so got a bargain The car has a lot of swirls and holograph reflections (should say did have ) but i was just mainly going for a better shine this time, used Farecla g3 to remove most of the dirt out of the paint and then went over it with AG paint renovator which seemed to get a lot of dirt out of the paintwork and gave me a pretty good base to start with? Going to hopefully get the wheels off this weekend and tidy them up, might re-polish the rims and respray the spokes the same colour as the car so they blend in better? was tempted to try a different colour on them but not sure what to go for as i think the black works well on the car?? plus i'm going to strip the engine bay down soon so i can get it all cleaned up and looking tidy? Could just do with a few days of sun now so i can get on with it
  20. Cheers for the link Cheers matey, its a right pain to clean this one as its had a light blow over in the past and the paint isn't brilliant? Used my smartool dual head random polisher and tried a few different polishes this time, but the one that seemed to suit it was the mequires gold class? tried the auto glym super resin, auto glym ultra deep gloss, Meir, smart cherry wax, but after a good claying over and a few tests the megs gold class did the job going to do it again on Wednesday and hopefully again on Friday so i can get it topped up before the crap weather starts to come in? Will be painting all the underside of the car soon too when i get chance, so it protects all the metalwork Got so much to do on it.
  21. Thought it was time i gave the motor a bit of a going over with the polisher to see how bad the paintwork really was? The front bumper, back bumper, rear spoiler and skirts all need ripping off and respraying? Excuse the pics as i used my little camera and most look bright/dark A few pic's? Before After Before After Before After
  22. Nice one matey, always a relief when they go through
