  1. The ghost car turned off left before the cop car turned and presumably went around the fence before it started ( or through a different piece to the bit the cops headlight shows ).
  2. Some good rolls in there I know some of it's old but it's amazing there are no marshalls and the spectators are up and running to the cars as soon as they either go off the road or start rolling. Spotted a Wartburg in there, one of my previous cars
  3. I watched a program on Discovery today where 3 teams had to build cars to drive on land and water, two sank but it made me want to find a real one: Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!
  4. Bit like socks then, this was in an email I got today
  5. I saw this posted on another forum, it seems it's very messy, you have to clean the snow / ice of the wheels first. It's only temporary and wears off very quickly - so may be OK as an emergency to get you moving.
  6. The roads ( hills ) I remember from the bad weather were: Scots Hill Batchworth Hill road up towards Ricky station from Scots Hill Loudwater ( as mentioned ) Berry Lane up from both the former Happy Man and up from Valley Road Queens Drive the hills up from the Three Bridges towards Croxley ( main road ) and the right turn up onto the estate I am sure there were others but they are the ones that spring to mind.
  7. I tried my socks on today. First go was straight back from the shops - fail Went in the house, washed my hands ( I forgot the car gets dirty ), put on some latex garden gloves and tried again. Not a lot of room round the front wheels in the wheel arch is there. Put it about 75% on and rolled the car back about a metre and the rest went on easy. Took it off and drove away from it sorted. Tried again with it on full lock and much easier, probably 2 minutes a side including moving the car for the final bit and even less to take it off. Glad I tried it before I needed it, left some latex gloves in with the socks for next time
  8. Remember it well, depends what's on the other side of the road I remember Tolpits Lane although it's flat and when I was younger going round there by Moor Park with the family and my mum literally walking in front of the car as the fog was too thick and dad couldn't see the road
  9. Wow, that's a lot even with the tyres. I'll let you know how long the socks take to fit ............. providing you have got snow / slush will be OK to drive on them but if it's tarmac you need to stop & take them off IMHO. The way I look at it is if I get stuck it's worth the cost of them to keep going and get home / to work rather than sitting in the car for hours for help.
  10. You can, but they will wear out ( reports say in a maximum of 40 miles ). So to me you use them to get to the gritted road and then stop when it's safe and remove them. Or if you get stuck, put them on to get moving then remove when you are clear. They should only take about a minute to put on and take off so I'll give it a go in the next few days so I know how to do it.
  11. Well I gave up trying to get some reasonably priced 16 inch wheels and have bought some AutoSocks, hopefully I won't need them but they will be in the back if I get stuck I bought these ones: Car Socks
  12. Take from my window at midday today:
  13. Don't think it's the sports pack as that doesn't change brakes. I suspect the cars with 15" wheels have different calipers. As mine came with 17" wheels it seems you can go down to !6" but not 15" due to the calipers. So probably only the base models will allow the 15" wheels on ( econetic only in the current model range, as all the others are 16" and above ).
  14. It's a fake, you can get those UFOs for about £20 for two. Was thinking of getting a couple and flying it past the neighbours ( plural ) windows one evening
  15. No, still looking but not even any reasonably priced ones on there at the minute. In the meantime I've been trying to price up some winter tyres for 16" and 17" wheels and the best prices I've seen so far are £120 and £170 - so I'm starting to think it's not a good idea. I was expecting £50 or £60 for a winter tyre Are these prices right Tony? Also been looking at socks today but most places they are out of stock, still snow not bad here ( yet ? ) so not urgent.
  16. Surely either the wheel will foul the calliper or even the tyre will foul the inner wheel arch?
  17. Just tried that last one and it comes out with thousands Just missed a set of 16" steelies, went up from £51.25 to £102 in the last minute and a half
  18. Mine was checked last week in the garage, OK down to -30 so should be OK. Most modern cars have a summer coolant / winter antifreeze so if your car is services it should have been checked, but if you need to top the level up yourself and just add water then it's getting dilutes. Forecast is for -20 on Friday in some places, so get it done before it's too late.
  19. This is my latest one: (mondeo, focus) (wheel, wheels) -nut -nuts -stud -studs -bolt -bolts -trim -trims -steering -hub -centre -centres -bearing -bearings Maybe we can get a combination, note if you put two words in brackets with a comma between it works as an OR. so for yours: Ford (15,14,wheel,wheels,alloy,alloys,rim,rims) should combine all the searches, I've found putting in the " for inches excludes some.
  20. Rich what are you putting in the search box on ebay to find them? I played around with my search this afternoon and cam up with quite a lot of sets of four, but most are 4 stud and I need 5.
  21. D'oh. Suppose that's one way out of it, maybe keep an eye and see if he puts them on again ( truth test ).
  22. Maybe, but might not get a matching one.
