  1. Yes it would be difficult if the charge has become quite low. When I had my Bluebird (blast from the past) I had terrible troubles with batteries on it. I got a reel on mains cable and extended the croc connectors on the end. Had it running under my back gate and under through the engine so I could close the bonnet. I would imagine it would be ok at 5A as you would expect the charger to drop at around 80% of the charge to a lower current. GEL batteries are more sensitive to charging currents though so there is the possibility the manufacturer isn't just being over-cautious. In saying that, it's only 0.8A of a difference and you would expect the tolerance margin to be larger than that. I'm 50/50 on whether you should give it a go or not. I bet loads of people have lobbed on those crappy large 8A chargers Halfords used to sell. For testing, do you still have your multimeter? Put on 20V setting and read the voltage. Should be about 12.4-12.6V. (If it's less than 11v, charge it) Turn the car on but don't crank it. See what the voltage drop is. Switch off, leave for 1 minute and do the same. If it's more than 2v drop it needs a charge and may not be in best condition.
  2. If the manufacturer specifically says it, then I'd err on the side of caution. It will take longer but can you leave on it's small battery 0.8A charge? It will get there, just take 5 times longer so you may have to restart a couple of times. The lower any charging current the better it is for any battery so not so bad in the long run.
  3. Does that not highlight the gravity of the situation you are putting your staff in by threatening they have to take holidays? What happens when their holidays run out? They actually have no choice really have they? If you offered furlough or come in then people would have less truck with that, even though proportional to the work, could still be irresponsible at the least. If someone gets ill as a direct result, whoever is behind this (and I suspect it isn't you) is down to them and I hope they can live with that. Their family members could die or anything.
  4. This is why we are going to have another wave of deaths next month..... Does seem unfair putting the staff in that position. Do you have bookings?
  5. As my post above, it was a digital artist. It's art. Doesn't appeal to my tastes but that's what it is and the reason he did it.
  6. Although it seems obvious as the surface area isn't there to mount them all, when I was in working in Saudi some of the frames they made for on the roofs and coming down were quite amazing. Not like the above pic but you would certainly question how they were attached.
  7. Yep. Found this on it: Till Nowak is an award winning digital artist, designer and filmmaker, born in 1980, working as a professional computer graphics artist since 1999 on his own independent projects and for high profile clients. He graduated 2005 in media design at the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz, Germany. Between 2008 and 2015 he was based in Hamburg, he now lives in Los Angeles. Till Nowak is the brother of Berlin based artist Nik Nowak. His work has been exhibited in hundreds of international film festivals, featured in books and at SIGGRAPH 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011 and was awarded with more than 70 awards, for example in Annecy, at Anima Mundi or at the AFI Fest Hollywood.
  8. You can't really. You can try if the bus/train is fairly empty but it doesn't really work as you're enclosed. This is a case of when it is only absolutely necessary and no other option. I feel sorry for people who have no choice in this respect. Any situation you have control of it should be adhered to. Preferably a greater distance.
  9. Yes, the police have blocked all car parks and have the temporary mobile stations on the roads leading there. I do agree as the Police were very lenient to begin with hoping people would have some sense and spread out or leave if it got too packed but they didn't. People have the attitude of "Well if they can be here, so can I" and all social distancing went out of the window. If the Police let a few through then they have to let everybody. I'm a local so know different routes to get where I was so a bit naughty but as you can see there, it's very empty and I wouldn't have gone near anybody. There's only a couple of real people - those others standing there are iron men as part of Anthony Gormleys "Another Place" which does look weird when the tide is coming in...
  10. Within walking distance so fine for exercise area. Radar tower at the Mersey Estuary Next stop Ireland. If you went slightly North you'd hit Isle of Man on the way.
  11. Maybe it should have had more than a single tug. Look at the lowline - you can see the tug is being pulled along.
  12. Just for clarity, you do have to tell them though. Again it is through your portal. Very easy application, just tell them you have closed temporarily. You won't be approved if you haven't closed and still have to pay. It takes just minutes on the Portal. You'll have to do those that are isolating now unless the company is footing their wages but you don;t need to. (Your choice if you want to make up the last 20% for them).
  13. No Tony that is absolutely wrong - someone has mis-informed you. I suspect there is confusion with the Business Interruption Loan Scheme. That's for short term cashflow support. This is the Job Retention Scheme and done through PAYE. Both are different and applied for separately. Have you designated your workers to the HMRC yet through the portal? You need to do this as soon as possible as you've said you have a few who have decided to not come to work. (And rightly so). Who in your company does this? The owner or do you have a company secretary? Whoever it is needs to get their facts right and sort this immediately. They have a responsibility. This isn't going to end soon and will affect your employees. Employees may miss out and the company may struggle if you have been paying them. It is backdated to 1st March too. Your VAT and TAX have been deferred as well so don;t submit them.
  14. Ah, so effectively your saying the business will go under without the income of these people coming in to get their vehicles done?
  15. Too late then. Facts not opinions are what counts.
  16. Put it this way, if you knew someone potentially had the virus, would you let them work on your car? Lexus aren't hospitals either but this list is off the is official doc for their engineers to clean with an antiviral wipe : 1 Exterior door handles 2 Frame of door and roof 3 Interior door release 4 Window switches 5 Interior door handle 6 Door pocket 7 Seatbelts 8 Seatbelt clips 9 Seat adjust buttons 10 Steering wheel 11 Horn 12 Control stalks 13 Driver air vents 14 Dashboard 15 Power button 16 Gear shift 17 Multimedia screen 18 Central air vents 19 Heating controls 20 Glovebox 21 Log book 22 Central storage compartment 23 Cupholders 24 Rear-view mirror 25 Interior lights 26 Grab handle 27 Key 28 Head rests 29 Seat pockets 30 Rear central tab 31 Fuel cap 32 Wheel valves 33 Boot lid 34 Parcel shelf 35 Boot floor tab 36 Boot close button 37 Bonnet lid 38 Washer cap 39 Dipstick 40 Oil cap It only takes a couple of coughs in the confinement of a car and you have potentially infected a number of these surfaces. It's not just about touching them.
  17. So you think you may have it yet you are going to work and come in contact with other people rather than isolate? What if it kills them or they then infect others that die because you passed it on? You probably won't know but could you live with that? It's all about protecting EVERYONE, not just yourself. It's not about whether you are allowed or not if you think there is a high chance you or your partner have it If you suspect you have it and you pass it on, there could be chance of legal action considering google will have this forum in it's cache for the next 5 years. My nieces best friends Dad died the night before last with it. Although funerals are allowed, because she has a high chance of having it she can't go. Most of the close family are potentially infected so they can't go. Local councils are working with funeral directors for enforcing this, with Police backup if necessary - something they didn't mention in the announcement. The family is absolutely distraught. They have no idea how he caught it. You could do that to someone.
  18. Try Google translate if you don't want to send it back. (Assuming they aren't odd characters like Chinese)
  19. Very nice. I wish I had adaptive cruise control. Cruise without it isn't as good as it could be and a bit of a pain sometimes. Great colour and specs too.
  20. Get the Firefox extension HERE if you are still using it. Then you can right click and select Reverse search. It comes as standard with Chrome.
