  3. try solvent welding just buy a pot of solvent from your local DIY shop rivet guns use rivets which are generally metal not sure i have seen plastic ones rivets will work on plastics as well as metals, may need to put some washers on, depending on the application
  4. not so sure myself what about the motorcyclist that sits by your rear light and then pulls out, you will not see him until too late i like to just see the rear of my vehicle so it gives me a line of sight must admit driving in America is different with multi-lanes and wide roads so may suit them better
  5. no, i was really cold ! tbh i just took along a cheapo compact, and snapped away, difficulty was in only standing 8ft away from them, a seconds pause and they were out of shot
  6. i think most of them do ! they are from all over Europe and as far as USA this is their showcase of the year the run is a celebration from 1896 when the laws changed and it wasnt necessary to have a man waving a red flag in front of your car they also raised the speed limit from 4mph to 14mph

  11. That's an Irish national flag, while the one on the left shows the Red Hand of Ulster, so I would guess the picture is in Northern Ireland somewhere. now you point that out I cant see how I mistook it for the french flag appointment booked with specsavers
  12. is that tyres in there ?? i like the french flag on top
  13. its different as for the noise what would you expect from an old Ford V8
  14. yes Tony is and it proudly wears the WIM badges the only reason than Fensport carried it out was the fact that the car was at their premises in Cambridge and that they had overhauled all the suspension for me to go up collect it, bring it back to WIM and then return it would have been a mission also the fact that it was dropped off and picked up either side of the sprint events, meant it had to be ready to go Fensport are not competition, in fact they do not generally carry out work on customers cars, their facilities are for their own cars, the work was taken on my car due to the fact I am good friends with the owner Tony had taken the settings as far as he could go, but was limited as the cars parameters were at the limit with a bit of drastic trickery the limits have been raised, and will now allow Tony to step further into the unknown
  15. wow 2 years without an update !! so about time 2009 went by the starlet winning class B in the Toyota Sprint Series without fault it ran like a dream the only upgrade being willwood 4 pots for the front braking 2010 came the competition was hotter although the starlet was running fine, something had to be done to keep up along came Fensport who took it under their wing with the existing TD04 turbo starting to smoke it was time for a new one rather than go for a straight swap a IHI V28 ball bearing unit was sought fully specced and brand new, one just happened to came along from a local supplier at the right time with a new turbo capable of more power, new engine management was needed next was a visit to Fensport and the Motec m4 ecu was fitted and mapped many recommendations were forthcoming, the biggest was that the car needed a new suspension set up, the existing D2 coilovers being too hard for anything but a perfectly smooth track new BC coilovers were installed, with a transformation of the handling still not good enough for the Fensport team, new softer springs were fitted to the front, this allows for absorbtion of the bumps instead of bumping over them although so much better, they think it could go even softer, quite a contrast to the rock solid D2 coilovers with the change in set up the geometry was then in dire need of some TLC with the car stuck in Cambridge it was left for Fensports to evolve WIM's settings a bit further following on from Tony's recommendation for more castor, more was added, a bit of trickery was carried out with more castor, the camber could then be reduced a bit theory being that camber helps the handling in the corners but reduces footprint/traction in a straight line,, with front wheel drive traction is pretty important !! with a bit more twiddling and twisting the car was ready for round 5 of the Toyota Sprint what a difference ! the car handled like never before power strangely enough didnt seem as much as before ? with a boost leak and a blown head gasket diagnosed, more work was going to be needed still took second place though back up to Fensports, new head gasket fitted, head skimmed and new ARP bolts fitted leaks solved, and another recommendation of taking out the restriction in the exhaust where the down pipe mates up with the main exhaust, all dutifully carried out back up to round 6th of the Toyota Sprint power was immense, nothing like i had felt before sadly the day was wet and the track very slippery front wheel drive, rain, slippery track do not go together well, with problems getting any kind of traction down, the day was no indication of how well this car goes and how well it handles next year will tell all the mapping was carried "out on the road" no dyno charts are available but in the words of Fensport it is ...................running about 300 bhp not bad for a 1300cc couple of latest pics Dave @Fensport trickery ! on track wet and slippery a bit dirty

  19. there is nothing to say it has to have a cat ! just that it needs to pass emmisions but they do need to have a model to base the emmissions figure on when its an imported model with no equavalent in this country, it starts getting difficult for them
