  1. Has anyone got that squirty stuff to work at all? The only time I used it was when the boot of my MGB roadster was so full of luggage, hood and sticks that I ditched the spare for a two tyre can of tyre foam. I also carried a scissor jack as unusually I'd read the instructions and you're supposed to jack the car up before injecting the foam. Sods law came into operation on the way home when I had a front tyre blow on the motorway. Jacked up the front corner, injected the foam, waited the requisite time for cure, and let down the jack, only to see the tyre still completely flat. As luck would have it an AA patrolman had noticed me as he passed by on the opposite carriageway and had taken the next exit to come back to see if I required assistance. Bit embarrassing waiting for an hour with the MGB on a scissor jack while the AA patrolman took the wheel away for repair, especially as his first comment had been 'I've never known that foam stuff to work'. So rather glad my Lex carries a space saver, even if it's bright yellow I think it's a bit strange that my IS-F has a different size spacesaver than my IS250 SE-L though, as I'm pretty sure the rolling diameter is similar. No doubt it's slightly larger to clear the Brembo calipers on the 'F'.
  2. Boneshaking and the pits. You'd expect it to handle better on these slicks
  3. Probably needs them too. How much do those things weigh??
  4. Not sure about this guy as he was also the one talking a load of bollox about the oil that's extracted from deepwater wells in the Gulf of Mexico.
  5. Before I dropped my Lexus IS250 the clearances between the top of the tyre and wheel arch front and rear were approximately the same, possibly slightly more clearance at the front than the rear. This changed after fitting the American specification Eibach springs as they lowered the car 0.5" more at the front. Before lowering: After: I didn't notice any problem with the handling, but as the springs and wheels (plus the WIM geo) also improved it considerably I find it difficult to say the lower front end changed anything at all. No doubt peeps are wondering why I've raised the point, well I've noticed that the IS-F has an even more pronounced bias in that the front has a lot more clearance between the tyre and arch at the front than the rear. So, are there valid reasons why a car should be set up with more clearance/raised ride height at the front than the rear or vice versa? I understand that setting the front to be 0.25" or 0.50" higher than the rear (-ve rake angle) gives better traction out of a corner, is this down to weight transfer?
  6. Very funny, but like a lot of what's on the web totally bogus. http://www.snopes.com/humor/letters/spree.asp
  7. But it's two separate vids, the first is a shot from a police aircraft, presumably some city in the USA, and the second is video footage from an Apache attack chopper in a war zone.
  8. They're being eaten by a Puma around here ....allegedly. Still waiting on DNA tests from saliva taken from two Roe deer carcasses to confirm it. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012...d-cat-dna-tests
  9. Did he fit tyre pressure sensors to each wheel? Is that something new??
  10. Well I certainly hope it was parked
  11. We used to do that as young kids, using folded cardboard in the spokes. If only we had thought of amplification
  12. The Lexus Cheltenham Service Manager didn't even hesitate on telling me he'd order one immediately as a warranty issue Still miffed it fell off though as it didn't feel loose anytime I washed the car. The IS-F generates a LOT of heat. Joe Z in the States manufactured carbon fibre exhaust trims that slipped over the IS-F stainless steel ones but has since stopped supplying them as some peeps managed to melt them. I know the cats put out a lot of heat as I've had to put hardboard over the garage floor tiles under the car to stop the tiles from expanding with the radiated heat and lifting.
  13. My IS-F appears to share my views on its shiny cosmetic exhaust pipe trims as it decided to part company with one of them today, somewhere between home and Gloucester. I cannot recall anything falling off any of my previous cars, including a Lotus and its not something I thought was possible with a Lexus It'll be an interesting discussion with the Lexus Service Manager tomorrow, wish me luck
  14. Considering the petrol revenue I provide my local Tesco I would expect a reserved parking space next to the entrance
  15. Guess I'll soon be getting a lot more exercise then
  16. This one in particular made me chuckle.
  17. Sent to me on FB, some amazing talent http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F...fgNWHfBW8IRPMmA
  18. That's true, but a major achievement anyway http://www.kiengineering.com/ Click on 'The Bull' for the write up on the pics that were posted.
  19. Stupid headline. How can you say 'is a warped, 100ft skull'? You could at a pinch say it 'looks like', but even that would be an inane statement to make.
