    Tyre wear

    http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/forum/ind...ost&p=11159 3 Weeks old.
  3. Is there anything in particular that needs to be done? My dads has always chewed up the inside of its front tyres. Just swapped one over as it had worn badly:(.
  4. That is someone on another forum i use doing a lap of the nurburgring in his iirc rev 3 turbo from 2005.
  5. Thanks for that, i live in Leeds. I dont mind travelling to pick up a good one, although i would rather not trapse the country and spend loads on trains trying to find one as ultimatly a few train journeys could knock 10%+ off what i have to spend. But i dont mind travelling to pick one up and drive home. Could you pm me your postcode and i will keep a look out on autotrader nearby you as well incase anything interesting appears. Thanks for the offer. Been without a car for a month now, walking everywhere instead .
  6. Yeah there is a 96N reg for £2.5k nearby, it seems to be a rev 4, however it seems that it has had 8 registered keepers which is alot unless it changes evertime you have a new reg plate and the previous was a serial reg plate changer.
  7. I got the idea he knows a little , so i though i would ask about it here.
  8. Can you get a nice one for around £1500- £1750 or less? There seem to be quite a few ones around from '90'91 but they all seem to have differing prices and some of the rev 2 etc seem to be a bit over priced 4k+ compared to some later revisions. I was thinking a n/a uk model would be more reliable than a turbo especially trying to find a turbo at that price. The insurance is a few hundered less for the an n/a model. Although i would quite like to try a turbo car though. I think i can just about fit in one, but i just need to try and find a nice one, i think i would prefer a standard model not a tuned everything changed one too. Does it sound possible to find a nice one for this money?

    Active camber

If it only uses half a tyre at a time, then wont the gain in grip from the compound etc, be negated by only half the tyre gripping?
  11. No problem if you want a trip up to Leeds, i can arrange to meet up with people and show everyone the way there.

  13. I'll probably go to a few hill climbs if i can, but i dont race anything myself.
  14. What about the surface you park on? does that effect your tyres? I was wondering if gravel is a bad surface to park on? as it is not flat so there isnt total contact over the contact patch, so surely there is more weight transfered per sq inch of tyre if only half the tyre contact patch is actually transfering the cars weight to the floor rather than the full contact patch. Can this damage the tyre or a sharp piece of gravel "cut" the tread?
  15. I needed one done in yorkshire on an Omega and i think i found a couple of places that could do it. Dont think it will be needed now though .

    wheel woe's

So Tony, take a supra(/soarer) ET50 on 16"s, and say you want a set of 18"s you make the tyres rolling radius the same by lowering the profile, however the tyres are say 50mm wider on the rear and 20mm wider on the front, they were 225 all round, now 245/275. Would you keep the ET at 50 or would you change it either way and why?
  17. I'm waiting to see if my pm has the right answer, however i think it is, i have never physically been around it, but from other peoples recollections and pictures it was a very good example.
  18. I think i know who's car it is.

    MX5

If they are all the same height before installation, could the general weight distibution cause it to sit uneven, or maybe they were knocked / loose when put on, or the springs are not correctly matched as you say.
  20. Think my Dads Omega needs one of the front tyres replacing as the tyre is wearing on an edge again, needs a new tie rod on the n/s iirc as well. Dont know anyone here with the equipment to do the geometry though .
