  1. They told me at the time they dropped the engine out.. They were also changing the clutch and having the exhaust manifold changed.
  2. Rich. A new chain and tensioner plus labour was over £1500. I had it done FOC when I had my accord as it was on a VSB. Chains do wear.. But I know an accord that is over 300k on the factory fit chain.. But it is a taxi so sees a shed load of mileage. Oil pump chain I would worry about too. When I spoke to the Honda tech doing the work, they had another diesel engine In bits on the floor. Owner had put too thick an oil in and the oil pump (which is a work of art) had broken the pump chain and therefore starved the engine of oil. The oil pump is two balanced counter rotating shafts that spin towards each other. In each shaft there is a 90 degree cut out and these scoop and then fling the oil up. Very clever!
  3. Oohhh is that your car in the bud? Deffo a mechanical twang in there. I would be tempted to drop the oil and do some fishing.. See if any deposits are present.. Certainly sounds like the start of a knock
  4. It's interesting. From what is available online it seems these two saw red on the road and pulled over to discuss. The open lorry driver was doing something with his phone when the big HGV driver decided to take the other guys phone.. No idea why. s**t then hit the fan and a fight broke out between the two. The guy who had his phone taken could not get it back and the HGV driver locked himself in his cab. The other guy then proceeded to ram his lorry in to the one behind.. I'm sure causing a shed load of damage. Still after not getting his phone back he smashed the cabs window in and got his phone back. To be honest I think all involved are going to be unemployed soon
  5. Rich. Does the noise change when revved? That sounds like the timing chain has stretched.
  6. Doh! Drop the undertray before you hunt too much.. You may be lucky and it's fallen straight through
  7. Because a learner is always supervised. Whilst learning technically the teacher is responsible for all that goes on whilst the learner is behind the wheel. Once the learner has passed they can go out by themselves and they no longer have supervision
  8. My wife's car insurance before she passed her test was about 500 quid.. With her passing it rose to 740, after 1years ncb it went to 480!
  9. I buy genuine Honda batteries. 3 year guarantee and very cheap (£60)
  10. Very few cars have a fan belt these days Tony. That's an auxiliary belt Rich you won't get a new tensioner idler with a belt.. You will only get the idler with a new tensioner kit.
  11. That's not an idler, that's the belt tensioner. Looks like its being loaded unevenly
  12. Rich... Follow my guide here: http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/11712-7th-gen-new-aux-belt-alternator-diy/ Remove the idler pulley and use the shorter belt. I would advise any accord owner who has not done this yet to do so as the original belt kills bearings

  14. Apparently it was also killed and people are not happy
  15. scary that it managed to get in the cage
  16. Did you put a UV coat on them?
  17. That's why the use glass to magnify the image
  18. Taking images of tiny things that don't like a normal sized macro lens being pointed at them... Odd but there must be a niche
  19. Bet his arm hurts and lucky his head is just shy of the frame.. Have to question why he was in the middle of the runway taking his canopy off though
  20. I was thinking more along the lines of the bottom end bearings being destroyed due to lack of oil lube
  21. Wow.. That's crazy sludge. I'm amazed with such neglect that the bottom end didn't fail
