Tony do you happen to know the correct size of the C spanner for these lock nuts ?
-
Well it’s raining again so what have I just done? Yes washed the MX and while I was out there I had a tinker with the new Gaz coilovers then took the wife for a blast around the lanes ,in the wet it is even more fun than before. I have to admit I did do a bit of homework over several months into what would suit my driving style best regarding springs and dampers and I am glad that I went with Gaz . Top job Tony With a bit of luck we should be able to make the trip down to Wim soon for a set a new boots even though I could source my tyres 2 mins from where I live we much prefer the “Win Touch†and drive of 90 miles.

Just logged on myself and it wasn't the usual screen that i got up , but the one when you get i f you make a mistake logging in ( may have been my fault from when i closed down last night but was unusual anyway )

Yup does make sense just need another spanner now ! are they all the same size or are they specific to the make of coilovers ?

No problem, i noticed that there where some marks because my undersid e of the car was quite dirty (lots of dirty roads around here ) and  these did stand out shiny to look at but hard to take a pic of. Tightened the lock nut up with a bit of "Grunt " and all is well.

Just a little bit of feedback, it’s been two weeks since I had my Gaz coilovers fitted on my MX5 and I think it fair to say I am more than happy with the way my cars handling has improved it takes the undulations and adverse cambers much more stable now and it seems to have solved the slight wandering from left to right in a straight line that it had before. However there is another bit of advice I am after, I noticed over the past week I have heard a metal “Poing†sound coming from the rear near side and on inspection today I noticed that the bottom locking ring was about 30mm down and loose also I have noticed some fresh wear/rub marks on the inner arch behind the spring. So would applying a thread locking compound solve the problem of the loose nut? Its a bit hard to see , the flash has killed the image but there are several marks around the back of the spring. Its only a small annoyance but any advice would be helpful.

I had a test drive in the mx3 s/c last saturday and if you get a chance it is well worth a visit, i beleave that the conversion is £5k. Yes it was the car in the article and it goes like stink, basically its just had the unit bolted on with no other mods and it has done thousands of test miles and apparently all of the journalists who have driven it ,loved it i know i did .
