  1. yup it was on yahoo news, "flight passengers in the UK were delayed"..... i didn't read the rest of the storey, horror thoughts filled my mind of being sat next to someone soooo obese that you'd be practically wearing them.... think she'd fill the 3 seats by herself.... but would she fit in the toilet?
  2. a little toilet humour http://www.agf.nl/nieuws/2005/28okt/toilet.jpg
  3. That looks real worrying don't worry Tony, thats looks like photoshop "makey-uppy"
  4. On the subject of (some) women drivers , a few years ago in my uncles garage he called me over to a ladys owners windscreen.... as he laughed he pointed out that the rubbers on the wipers were long gone, so long ago that the metal tip had worn a 1-2mm gouge into the glass itself my uncle said he didn't know how they hadn't cracked the glass and gone in on top of her ..... i hate squeaky wipers but can you imagine the racket of these, yet she kept on driving till it was trade in time... @Tony anyway back on topic, how quickly do you think the tyres in question went from being legal to that state? hands ups ... i got done for having two illegal front tyres (bald on the inner half) years ago while driving a Mazda 323 ( was stopped for speeding and while he was at it he gave the car a good going over).... had changed the 4 tyres at the same time 4-5 months earlier, backs were so good the cop thought i was telling porkies about changing the four together, wasn't having any problems with handling and was working night shift so never dawned on me to check how they were wearing, previous Honda got new tyres once a year and were still legal coming off... my own thinking is they were a budget tyre and the cars tracking must have been way off for them to go bad that quick... anyway i'm way more careful about tyres ever since ... won't make that mistake again, always buy premium now for peace of mind
  5. 188.8 at the wheels, so estimated with a 20% transmission loss 227 at the fly. Very happy with that, only thing I have done since the Ireland meet was replce the airbox filter with a RamAir one Makes me think the dyno in Ireland wasn't very accurate as the weather yeasterday was about the same as Ireland in March yes that may be true but i think your also forgetting our 95ron fuel, you wasted all your super driving to sligo and back thankfully MAXOL now sell E5 which is 5% bio-ethanol and is reported to be 99ron...making all the imports drivers happy... so no excuse next time
  6. what did Lee's is200 put out? was it the same as when he did it over here in Ireland (217bhp) or did upgrade the supercharger pulley since?
  7. thanks for the tip, Tony what about a top 5 list of common wear items and how to check
  8. I used to work in a factory that made "steering angle sensors" for Mercs/Daimler.... Basically they were a fancy potentiometer that was mounted behind the steering wheel ( all integrated, very expensive).... It's purpose was to check the amount the steering wheel was rotated left or right and the the ECU armed with this info would make the car safer.... lol ( very technical) we weren't told exactly how this info was used but the logic was that the ECU knowing the cars speed and the angle of the steering wheel "stiffened" up the car accordingly ( left for right turns etc) to provide safer cornering... all part of it's ESP (electronic stability programme) The electronic stability program (ESP) is a further enhancement to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction control system (TCS). The ESP is designed to detect a difference between the driver's control inputs and the actual response of the vehicle. When differences are detected, the system intervenes by providing braking forces to the appropriate wheels to correct the path of the vehicle. This automatic reaction is engineered for improved vehicle stability, particularly during severe cornering and on low-friction road surfaces, by helping to reduce over-steering and under-steering. To implement ESP functionality, additional sensors must be added to the ABS system. A steering wheel angle sensor is used to detect driver input with a yaw rate sensor and a low-G sensor that measure the vehicle response. Some ESP systems include a connection to the powertrain controller of the vehicle to enable reductions in engine torque when required.
  9. Is that a tail pipe or are you happy to see me.... from a post on LOC ...
  10. Nice one Am but it's about friggin time...
  11. What about guys who fit 1.5 or 2 way differentials... ?
  12. What... like Sam "tickle" ??? Here's one for ya.....
  13. I think you should look up not down..... (my guess) it looks more like it's rubbing off the arch and suspension occasionally ... how low is the car ?
  14. My sister drives an 06 astra coupe which is front wheel drive and also front engined.... she needed 2 new tyres recently and asked my opinion, so while at it i said to put the new tyres on the front for more grip to the driven wheels.....other 2 wheels on the car have 7-8 mm of rubber left anyway she went to get her new wheels and asked them to put them on the front like i told her.... but they refused and stated it was safer to put them on the back.... who's right?
  15. kinda ironic.... http://paultan.org/archives/2007/01/31/war...gue-table-2007/
  16. that's the problem with technology.... it's only as good as the guy operating it
  17. didn't think that garages put clip (bang) on balance weights on alloys.... usually stick on flat ones
  18. welcome... nice motor, but the rear wheels pushed back like that just looks wrong hope you get it sorted...
  19. Probably only if you try to steer.... Also welcome
