Below +7 degrees, summer tyres begin to harden and cause braking distances to increase and are not designed for the extreme conditions that we have seen in the past couple of years. Winter Tyres have a different tyre tread and higher silicone compound within the structure of the tyre and this prevents it from hardening at low temperatures and gives far better grip in cold, snow and wet conditions. It is a matter of fact that in large parts of Europe most motorists have two sets of tyres, one for the summer and one for the winter and regardless of the prediction, they install their Winter Tyres October/November and run them through the winter and back on to their summer tyres come March/April. The difference in handling, especially on freezing roads/snow/ice etc, is non comparable to that of a normal tyre. A set of Winter Tyres can last three or four winters, and so make an excellent investment in health and safety for you, your car and your family.
