hms
Tony, on the SELOC forum, there is a thread with a hunter printout. http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=264727 Scroll down a bit! Everything is green and reasonably balanced with the exception of castor which is in the red. My assumption is that the car has been lowered and that the standard Lotus settings have been used. May be wrong on that. What effects will you have with the castor being out of spec. Slow self centring of the steering? harder to turn? Will the scrub radius be affected, and if so how will that affect the handling? h
Tony
They probably didn't add weight to the car hence the low castor figures...... If they are real then the steering will be slow to return and very light at speed.
hms
Is the castor dynamic then? Think I need to have a think about this! h
Tony
During the geo some cars need to suspension preloaded, this simulates the suspensions dynamic position while the car is static. The preloading also lowers the sprung chassis, this in turn changes the static positions of some angles, castor being one of them. In a straight line the castor is not dynamic, meaning there is very little change in it's values, whereas during cornering it's a very different story.
