Coopers-SWB
Is the standard geometry set up affected by the wheel size and if a car is lowered etc. Should the camber be adjusted if wider wheels are fitted. Tony there is a guy on the 300zx forum asking these quiestions so could you perhaps nip on there and answer them. Darrell
Tony
Two things to realize here.. 1: The OEM settings are not law, just suggestions... we have to many variables within our driving style/environment to become standardized. 2: Any modification like wheels/ suspension exasipates the OEM suggestions so the realm now is absolutely theoretical. All reads a bit desperate but it's not really.... Historical templates exist so the chassis can be compensated to a near perfect calibration accomondating the modifications. Can you give me a link to the thread?

Tony
Blimey they are in trouble aren't they!! I can fully understand how this happens.... One owner has issues then the entire forum tries to help with good reports from their own experiences. Where things fail is that each members settings are unique... add a smattering of modification to a car then the calibration needs one-to-one consideration, even the OEM settings are just suggestions Back to the original question.... A modified car (wheels/suspension) if used as a daily drive should attempt a calibration near to the OEM settings. Complications arise with wheel off-sets and or spacers in regards to handling but this should be easy to resolve by awareness from the shop and the adjust-ability of the car. Nevertheless to retain handling the modified car may sacrifice tyre life. Personally as an instructor i advise students to measure the car as "generic", measure the chassis, acquire information about the modifications and the intended use of the car.... Then apply Geometry in it's true format as a modifier to compliment the modifications or intentions if other than domestic.
