Geometry/alignment for Focus ST2

Hi,

I'm planning on fitting Eibach lowering springs to my Focus ST2 (2007, 07 plate) which should give me around a 25mm drop.

After doing a bit of reading on the STOC forum it seems a geometry/alignment check would be a good idea to avoid odd tyre wear issues and handling problems, could someone recommend a place to go to in North West England preferably in the Preston, Blackburn, Burnley area?

Also I am assuming (i'm not to clued up on this, can you guess?!) that the settings should be made to return the car to what Ford specify for the standard car?

Many thanks in advance,

Stuart

Cheers Tony, heard about Systems-R when i had a Civic Type R about 5 yrs ago now.

It'll be for just road use.

How much should i expect to pay for a check/setup?

Just reading another thread on this forum with someone taking their car to Drury Lane :- http://www.drurylaneservices.com/geometry.htm

Is this a "recommended" place also?

Agreed, Drury lane are very good.. The actual fee varies from place to place but £100 is an average.... If someone says £40 "RUN".

What you need to understand is now your car is modified the likes of TDI or Drury need to listen to you.. except and understand how adjustable the car is and calibrate the chassis to accommodate your end goal, this level of expertise commands a higher fee.

So i assume places like ATS or National are to be best avoided then?

I'm probably going to go to a place called Code:Red (or Wolf as it was known) in Stockport for the springs to be fitted (among a few other bits and a service, they tend to specialise in Ford) and they've quoted me £120 for a wheel alignment / geometry check which is non-laser and using some "old Motorsport setup gauges"....sound a little steep?

DEFINITELY avoid places like ATS..they just can't spend the time required on something like this and as for the alignment from code:red.......you can spend that money and get the car set up MUCH more accurately and easily at places at TDI and drury which have the computerised equipment.......but it's your money at the end of the day and it's up to you....

I don't like the sound of them gauges.... Problem with the track side type of gauges is there not particularly accurate and you don't get a printout....
