  1. I'd do the suspension changes first, see what difference that makes. Do the bushes look as though they need replacement? Personally I wouldn't run with spacers. Have you tried the car on 15" wheels? 195 x 50's Oh and get a proper alignment from WIM! (That will make a world of difference) Some nice bits on your car, currently looking for an s-vt, Arizona, Phoenix or Euphonic, for the lsd. H
  2. Tony, Following on from our chat today, the 'finn the spin' sequence can be found on page 2 of this thread. http://www.planetmx5.com/forum/viewtopic.p...63&start=15 Other photo's are of other planet members having a day out with the Owners Club at Silverstone Stowe. H
  3. Dixons Stores Group is Currys and PCWorld. Dixons is no longer on the high street, but retained as a web retailer. Think they also own pixmania. Dixons used to be camersas and tech, Currys white goods and hojusehold electrical. Have noticed the DSG stores shop at Brent Cross is branded curry's and PCWorld, looks as though in these tough times they are moving in together! (Used to be a buyer for Dixons in the good old days!) h
  4. Driver being overtaken didn't see Mansell going for the gap, and held his line forcing Mansell off. Is the picture mirror image because it's from a different parallel universe, there is somewhere a video where he doesn't catch it! h
  5. It was the aquaplaning at the end which did him in! H
  6. yep, old age and poverty have caught up with me! h
  7. Unfortunatley the pain I'm in is not a memory! Pass the ibuprofen. h
  8. But it's better out of hospital! h
  9. Has Tony worked his magic alignment wise? If not I recomend he does. H
  10. What I didn't mention was that Dave, very carelessly, lost 5th and reverse in the gearbox. One very kind Planet member, thanks Munkey, gave us a gearbox, we spent a couple of weekends swapping them over. What a job, axle stands on dusty earth don't work well! It was two weekends of very interesting work, and a years supply of swear words used, we all felt it by the time we finished. Took the opportunity of fitting a new clutch at the same time. Had a quick drive in it yesterday, 5 gears plus reverse, sweet as a nut! Now booked to Abbeville for a track day on the 29th H Ps, if anyone asks for my recomendatios about changing the gearbox on a five, it's pay someone else to do it!
  11. Correct. Another vote for craigsplates. After about 10 months my rear plate began to ripple where the plastic covering was lifting. Sent a replacement foc. H
  12. Are the links 'handed? Alternatively what about fitting the bottom of the link the other way around, that looks as though it would be more vertical! h
  13. Was that a Caparo? Didn't they get the fasted time for a road legal car, they drove it to the ring and back! Nice driving tho' H
  14. Fascinating Aida See also 'dogging' and 'getting it' both rude! h
  15. Some more pics here from the Planet thread. http://www.planetmx5.com/forum/viewtopic.p...17&start=45 Hornet seems to sufferning with gearbox issues, hopefully its just the clutch slave cylinder as 5th and reverse are hit and miss. More miss than hit! So she has 4 forward gears. However with traffic and 4 gears a 10.17 has been recorded! h
  16. We could all have a WIM pub meet at Kings Langley! Anyone up for that? h
  17. The ring was closed today to the public, although the car pool had use of the ring. Couple of camouflaged cars were seen Aston? http://1.2.3.12/bmi/i88.photobucket.com/al...11/P1020427.jpg Mini Coupe? http://1.2.3.9/bmi/i88.photobucket.com/alb...11/P1020514.jpg h
  18. Yep, the Hornet is off to the 'ring again for what appears to becoming the Planet MX5 annual outing to the 'ring. This will be the third time the Hornet has been there, unfortunately I will not be going this time, it's being taken by one of the other members. Dave. I'll post anything I get, they have wifi at the hotel so I'm expecting daily updates. h
  19. One thing I didn't realise was that if the wheel nuts are exposed then use wheel nuts that are blind drilled, i.e. the hole does not go all the way though, as that protects the thread. A wheel nut with the thread going all the way through is meant to be covered by a hub cap or somesuch to protect the exposed thread from the elements. h
  20. Inside you may be OK, but what happens if it breaks the track? Not changed the track on a tank but have on an armoured vehichle, pig of a job! h
  21. Tony may be away for several days, I know they are short staffed at WIM Central, (holidays and illness,) at the moment. It may be a little while before anyone responds to your request. h
  22. It puts our weather into perspective, we have no extremes thank heavens! h
