  1. In your case, acceptable. In the rover 214s case near me, not!
  2. It's such a pointless look.
  3. Having owned an 06 EP3 Civic type R I can say they're... lively to say the least. The car doesn't have a very complex ESP system so I'd not look at that to blame. Tony, would camber thrust not be an obvious cause? If the car is ok when on good roads, but having issues on the uneven then I'd have thought the geometry and tyres not working well together could cause exactly what he describes? Looks like the fronts were slightly over inflated at some point in their life but otherwise the tyres look great.
  4. I followed a friends 600bhp Monaro last night. Quite funny watching him sideways at 80mph in a straight line.
  5. My girlfriends dad has just ordered a new MX5 for delivery April 08, i wonder what the situation will be by then.
  6. Thanks Sam, pretty much what I was assuming but as always, you can put it extremely gracefully Have a good weekend mate
  7. I guess this is more a learning thread than anything else. What problems would there be with an extremely light flywheel? As you've probably already guessed, this has been spurred on by hearing a friends Gallardo blipping, the speed at which it jumps up and down the rev range is fantastic. I'm not discussing replicating it on a 3SGTE for any reason other than "can it be done, and what are the drawbacks."
  8. I'm fairly sure my car already has what people would call a lightened flywheel, so unless the toda unit is made out of a combination of tin foil and butter it probably won't do what I want it to
  9. I'm just thinking out loud. I've got to get the gearbox off the track car at some point to fit a 1.5 kaaz diff, thought I'd make a flywheel mod too. Not for performance per se, more just to see if it can be done. Driveabilty isn't a concern.
  10. Random thought for the week... In theory, as long as you had a trick enough ECU, could you remove the mass of my flywheel to allow for freer reving? I realise there are a few usability and economy downsides to doing this but for a car that wasn't a daily drive these would can largely be ignored...
  11. On the contrary, I always take the time to double read your comments and I thank you for taking the time out to write such detailed replies. You're always very insightful.
  12. Bit ironic coming from me but the customers aren't the best people to give educated or unbias feedback because of the different between old and new tyres. Back to back magazines are all saying the AS is a step on from the GSD3, not Goodyear. Lets not forget the GSD3 is a fairly old design now! My prediction is the AS will take the GSD3s crown as the customers choice in the next 12 months.
  13. Historically it's the drivers view that really matters..... I think until the AS gets serious approval from the drivers i will abstain from any recommendations. One thing i learned is that all new products are the best ever, so says the manufacturer... This would mean there must be a huge pile of second best ever products that failed to impress the nation Or some would call it evolution. If each new product wasn't better than the last we'd still be driving sideways on 3" cross ply tyres...
  14. There hasn't been a back to back AS vs GSD3 but the general consensis amongst those IN THE KNOW is the new tyre is a fair bit better, dry and wet. Of course, there's going to be the people who refuse to let go of the past...
  15. http://eu.goodyear.com/uk_en/tires/reposit..._F1AS/index.jsp I prefer the AS look compared to the Directional. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2007-evo-tyre-test.htm
  16. Anyone ever used a bubble balancer? I seem to be changing tyres quite a lot and I'm quite anal about balance so I was thinking I could by one of these and do it myself. http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores...p;storeId=10101
  17. Interesting data tony, particularly as I'm sure you're aware it's tyre safety month: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/tyre-safety-month.htm If the tyre is a space saver I'd probably throw anything on and just drive very carefully if I ever needed it
  18. 225. Toyo recommend an 8.5 inch rim for a 235/30 and a 8-9 inch rim for a 245/35 http://www.toyo.co.uk/productdetail.php?id...mp;product_id=2
  19. If you're looking for more grip a softer compound will give you a far better result than trying to put a wider tyre onto a narrow rim.
  20. You could probably squeeze a 245 second on a 7.5 with a high profile (45 / 50), that has no chance of fitting though! What kind of car runs a 20" 7.5 alloy?!
  21. That depends if you're heading for a tree or not at the time of blow out Seriously though, I'm glad you got away with this one. As Tony said, no grip at the rear means a car enjoys swapping ends far more than is healthy.
  22. What's the story behind this?
  23. IIRC the speed is taken from the gearbox. You can double check on imoc but i think 205/50 will be fine with the abs, i don't know as i don't have abs on the turbo but the abs on my old NA didn't mind going to 215/35 18 all round (no stagger)
  24. A youtube of the video could someone move this to the tyre section please, it shouldn't be in the lounge
