    What do you think

Actually i never set the car... another company phoned me and ask if these settings would perform the way the customer thought.... The answer was implicitly no! OK I'll have another go....running on two wheels and/or performing doughnuts after the driver has left the car?
  2. With the tyre/wheel configuration you have this scary topic does not apply to you (thankfully).... On the Coil side of things, the feed back i received displayed much distress for the approved fitment you have. If you don't get an answer soon then i will pass the link on to you, but appreciate this would complicate things. Sounds a bit worrying. No harm being done at the moment though as I'm driving around on the other side of the pond in a Ford Escape and the 250 will remain stationary for at least another 3 weeks
  3. Indeed but my problem is with the product.. Since the wheel is not 'flat-spotted' meaning the entire inner dish was damaged then the impact must have been reasonably confined to the bead area, this is quite worrying. Tony..do you know if those are cast or forged? Considering the price I would expect the latter, but the crack says otherwise. To my knowledge the wheel is designed for the standard tyre... the only addition is the pressure sender fitted to the valve, this is to make the driver aware he/she has a deflated tyre.. 'cast or forged' add BMW to the rim then the price is whatever... My new rims are not far short of the BMW cost, but they're a three piece forged construction. BTW, I haven't heard back from Eibach, Germany on the UK/US spring issue so have sent them an email chaser...

    ..hmmm hill climbing maybe?

  6. Tony, I'm in agreement with you, just finding it difficult to understand why there would be a difference between the specs for Europe and the U.S as there certainly isn't a difference in the requirements as the roads here are no different than anywhere else...would they then for example have different specs for the second generation IS's supplied in Asia/China/Middle East?? Don't think so. Hopefully all will be revealed by our German friends who were responsible for the design in Eibach Oberflachentechnik GmbH in Ludenscheld (EOT). Perhaps it's a difference between reference standards used for the European market and that of the USA, which is something I also have to cope with in my day job. If there's a good reason to change then it's a simple job, I'm more concerned with the lack of geometry adjustment, especially as I'm fitting larger diameter and wider rims than the OEM has on offer. As I'm in the States at the moment I'll seek what, if anything, is available in that line, but failing that may have to design a mod to the standard parts.
  7. The part number for the European spring set is different, but I don't know why as I believe the suspension set up isn't any different. I have Eibach in Germany working on it so should know why by COB tomorrow. Can I ask why you were concerned? Did they not fit correctly? The car drives fine, and if the coil rates in the US are softer than the EU so what?
  8. The number on the box is 8288.140 which is the Eibach part number I ordered against. The set fits the IS250 RWD and also the IS250 AWD. The drop should be 1.4" Front & 1.0" Rear. The other IS second generation Pro-Kit available is for the IS350 and the part number is 8287.140. As the 350 is already lower than the standard 250 on the OEM springs the Eibach drop on this part number is 1.0" Front & 0.8" Rear. Dunno about the IS250 Sport, but at a guess I'd say it would take the 8287.140 set.
  9. Ok,,the real one, in between the rain showers,,,
  10. Well it's stopped raining now so I may be able to take a few proper photo's If it really was a before and after I'd be in a lot of trouble...the giveaway is the light relections on the body work and windows ...they haven't moved
  11. There's a sort of flicking noise when I stray over the cats eyes in the centre of the road and I can't get near my house now due to the speed bumps on the approach road ...and I don't think your geometry kit is going to fit anymore ..and the turning radius without shredding the tyres is on a par with a fully loaded oil tanker.
  12. OK..am I dumb or what? How do you add attachments??? Not at all... due to the hacker problems you need to link from an external source like photo-bucket.. then copy the link and past that here.... i am sure someone will explain this better than me but that is the method until we can protect this site from the hackers Tony ..before and after. I'm a little worried about the amount it's settled Do you think it's OK? Who was the guy you said was going to carry the can if something went wrong
  13. OK..am I dumb or what? How do you add attachments???
  14. Well..the good news is that my new wheels (19" Volks SF-Winning) have arrived from Japan and are being delivered sometime soon via courier. The bad news is that as they arrive in country, I'm leaving it again Monday. However, if it stops bloody raining I'll take some pics with the standard wheels over the week-end.
  15. Ummm..toe and um..toe May need to make up a camber adjuster set for the front?? You don't reckon that excessive toe-in on the rear was doing anything to unsettle the suspension then?
  16. Tony, Well we did something right, but I don't know whether it was the geometry changes or the stiffer springs. The car feels a lot more stable and 'planted' whereas before it felt skittish both on the motorway at speed and also when pushing it on the fun A roads we have in Gloucestershire (with due regard to the occasional tractor ). Job well done I reckon..bit surprised it showed the drop almost immediately after the remarks from the IS200 mob on the time it takes to settle Will post some piccies on the LOC site when it stop pixxing down, or probably wait until the other wheels are on
  17. Try this http://www.1threadinsert78.info/ear-thread...h-diameter.html
  18. question is : where do i get a 1/8 pt tap ? (seem to be able to find various 1/8 taps but none say pt ) and what size hole needs to be drilled ? i wonder if the "pt" is a japanese thing, if so whats the uk version of it There's a risk here 'cos I think it's the Japanese Industrial Standard JIS BO202 (PF Thread), BO203 Tapered (PT Thread). Suggest you do a web search on this and not assume it's anything to do with BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) or NPT(T) (National Pipe Thread (Taper)...the last two aren't interchangeable either.
  19. Has anyone used Toyo TR-1's? I'm about to purchase a set for my Lexus IS250 and they appear to have mixed reviews. Some like them a lot but others say they are not so good in the wet (contrary to their press release). Peeps have compared them unfavourably against Bridgestones SO2's, and say they are a cheap tyre and therefore not the best (don't understand this line of reasoning as the price difference isn't that great). I understand they are a softer compound than most, but I don't mind sacrificing longevity for grip.
  20. ...and no doubt if you took it to the local government 'recycling facility', otherwise known as 'the tip' they'd charge you a disposal fee
  21. OK..will give you a call when I have the wheels.
  22. I personally have not measured a 250 yet so i cannot image any suspension modifications and unfortunately i have no data to compare Geometrically (is it unique or an overlap with some tweaks?) The 19" i assume is wider but the offset should counter that. Lowering the suspension will change the dynamic Camber curve in favor of the Geometry. But historically this will still leave an error and subject to tyre wear. Tony, The wheels are being manufactured in Japan, and I have the eibachs in the garage. My intention is to make an appointment with your goodself as soon as the wheels arrive, and I get some Toyo R1's fitted. I did ask before but I don't believe I got a direct answer....would you prefer I arrive with the original set-up (17" OEM Rims and standard springs) to enable measurements to be taken as standard? Work to be subsequently done would be to fit the eibach spring set and the 19" rims, and presumably an initial geometry check followed by a later check after the springs have settled ? Terry
  23. i had a play i came up with this for the is250. if it is rear wheel drive then only the front toe is adjustable but if it is 4 wheel drve the front camber is also adjustable using off-set washers on the lower arms Thank you for looking Dan. Not so good then?? So what will be the consequences of lowering my rear wheel drive car 1.4" at the front and 1" at the rear, together with changing the 17"rims to 19"??? Wheel offset at the front will change from +45 to +38 and from +45 at the rear to +42. All the feedback I'm getting in the States says no problem, but if they're not checking the geometry how do they know?
  24. Do you have an IS250 to play with?? I've searched the internet and cannot find any info on suspension adjustment on the second generation IS. Also checked availability of adjustable camber kits for the models (250/350) and there aren't any....which might be good news if there is adjustment already and thus no demand Sorry I cannot have a look myself, but not back in the UK until Friday.
  25. The link probably wouldn't be any good as it's to the US Club Lexus site, not LOC. But here's a copy, complete with original spelling errors: [ [/color] There's been a lot of second generation IS's lowered in the States as Eibach, Road Magnet, Tanabe etc. have all produced lowering springs for the 250 and 350. Coilovers are also now available but not so many peeps have fitted as yet. Most of the American posts say they haven't bothered with a geometry check and have had no problems with handling or uneven tire wear...and those that do mention geometry checks have not provided any detail of adjustments made, if any. I don't understand this as thought that any lowering would change the camber angle wouldn't it? Here's the reply I got from my question: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
