  1. I bought a pair of tyres last year online and they sent them with the outer line on the same side I really couldn't be bothered with sending them back so stuck them on and they seemed ok. However, because of that I will only get my tyres from Tony now or somewhere I trust...Tony said to me on Sunday that he will be competitive with online prices so I doubt if I will buy online again.
  2. Is that right Tony...you weren't the only one taking the photos! Can't believe you both went there without taking nothing to drink!
  3. I try to avoid speed humps but I have to go over at least one now as the council put them on both sides of where my road is! To get on the main road I can either turn left and I face six speed humps or turn right and face one but a million pot holes!! I try to dodge all the ones I know but when I do hit one I dread to think what it's doing to me alloys As for bumping up curbs I never do that unless I really have to and then I ease the car on/off. Amazes me how some people can drive up a curb doing 10-15mph, do they not think about the damage they're doing! There's also a bloke up the road who parks with his wheels hanging off the curb, so half the tyre is on the pavement and the other half in the air...what would that do to the tyres?
  4. Hi welcome to WIM I know WIM approves 2 trusted centres up North, which are Drury Lane in Oldham and TDI North in Warrington if that's any help. BTW, you can only add images if you are a paid member, otherwise you will have to use your own hosting or photobucket etc.

    Tyre Wear

Wouldn't mind your thoughts on this Tony? I'm sure I should be getting more than this and other members on MEG get more life out of their tyres than me!
  6. Lucky he never got pulled by the cops, they would have had a field day with them!

    Tyre Wear

That's better than what I get mate I don't do alot of mileage at the moment so it's not a major issue for me but if I changed jobs and started commuting I'm gonna be eating tyres!!

    Tyre Wear

That's a good point actually, but then I don't think I've ever seen over 7K miles out of the front tyres! I'm wondering if it could be related to the common lower arm problems that the mondeo suffers?

    Tyre Wear

How heavy is the Lexus? Think my mondeo is 1500kg The rears always wear slowly, still have about 4-5mm left but the front will need changing before I've even had them a year I reckon!
  10. Would this only become a major problem because of the difference in rim width and tyre size, as well as the different offset? My last set of wheels had different offsets, I bought them off ebay! Before anyone says it, yes I did check the offset before buying them and was told they were all ET35. However, the rears were ET20, one front was ET35 and the other ET29!! Had them on for a good year and it was driveable, however, to be honest I was never happy with how the car handled, although in part that was down to the tyres as well. My current wheels have the same offset and after having them fitted the difference between them and the others was very noticeable!
  11. Sounds good...does that include a free cup of tea
  12. I was told that it doesn't matter as I asked Tony this when I had a geo done with 15" steelies on although I knew I'd be fitting some 16" alloys a week later. The handling did change when I swapped the wheels but this was down to the tyres, got some new ones on the front which improved it alot.

    Tyre Wear

I had new toyo's fitted last June when I bought me new wheels. The fronts now only have around 1.5mm on the edges and 2.5mm in the middle...I've only done 4500K miles on them! Yes I know toyo's are a soft compound and my car is heavier being a diesel but I've had this with all the tyres on the mondeo, even budgets with a harder compound So I'm just wondering how miles do you get out of your tyres and on what cars?
  14. Excellent, that will please Jammy with the problems he's been having! So what is the fee now?
  15. That's cool then, not so hard to do by the sound of it
  16. Tony, I've been reading about these camber adjusters and found this link to installing them - Click Me I know it's for a contour but they use the same kit as the mondeo? Anway, this bit that I've quoted below has got me thinking. If the weight needs to be off the wheels when you adjust the plate how can you get accurate readings when doing the geo? As you would have to remove the top cover/nut, make the adjustments, replace cover/nut and then lower the car back down. It gives the impression it would take a while to find the correct setting if you're lowering/rasing the car all the time to make the adjustments. I'm assuming the top cover/nut would need to be in place when measuring the car otherwise there will be movement in the strut?
  17. Err no! Was the perfect day for taking photos with it TBH
  18. Ok here's mine, taken with the camera phone so not brilliant quality. Put a couple of mine in as well seeing that I spent all morning detailing her and all you do is take the mick!
  19. There was a Mondeo down the road...... I thought it had broken down Yeah I was all on me own! Some great photos there and some nice motors, will get my pics up in abit
  20. You have more trophys but i'm the overall leader because i held so many for so long. Nice try though . Ok I'll give you that one!
  21. I know how you feel mate, the more I've learnt about the subject the more I try to pass on to others what I know....however, most don't believe me, for example changing the tyres around if you experience a pull before having the alignment checked. They're convinced this wouldn't change anything as tyres are tyres and it must be the tracking that's out!
  22. I will let Tony/Ahmet explain what is happening properly but in a nutshell it was decided to merge platinum/gold membership status into one for simplicity. You will not lose any of the privileges you had with platinum status except the colour
  23. When I spotted a nail in one of my tyres a few years ago I went to the local tyre place to get it checked. They pulled it out, put some water over the hole to check for bubbles, there weren't any so said it was fine. I'm assumed it would be and never had any problems with it. That question as got me thinking though, maybe they should fill the hole anyway just to be on the safe side.
  24. Give me the name of the cafe and I'll see what I can rustle up! Sorry I'll get me coat! I'll see what I can do regarding discounts for you northeners
