What's the best way of checking? I usually jack one side up at a time and have the steering lock on. Should both wheels and the steering lock be off then? Think I'll go get a new one and change it anyway
-
There is no play in the wheel when I checked 2 or 3 weeks ago, which is why I'd like to know how to check if they've seized or not? Is it just a case of popping the joint out and feeling how smoothly it moves?
-
if its split change it.....simple as Yeah I know I should but don't want to until Tony has opened the centre when I put me camber kit on. Just that I have a 300 mile drive in 2 weeks so wondering if I should stick one on for then

Is there a specific way of checking these and do I need to remove it from the hub to do this? What symptoms would I experience handling/steering wise if one has seized? As the rubber around one of mine has been split for a good 6 months now I think I need to change it but want to check first

The link, image and email tags don't work but the quote and code ones do! Just to add the above applies to IE and FF.
-
I use firefox and it doesn't work.
-
Any reason why these don't work? I'm getting fed up with having to type the tags out meself!
-
Ah the clock spring...yes I know about that
-
Cheers There's a few cables that are fed through a hole at the top of the wheel so maybe it's relating to that. Will let you know how I get on!
-
There's also a fuse I need to remove which supplies the backup power for the airbag. I will be leaving it for a while don't worry and I'll stand outside the car when i unplug it!
-
you need to disable that mate Yeah I know Leave the ignition off at least half an hour but I'll disconnect the battery as well
-
I will give it ago and see what happens Not looking forward to removing the airbag though!

The hole in the wheel is hex shape. I'm assuming it will be ok then?
-
Err, how do you mean? If it's straight or at an angle? What shape is the end of the column where the wheel mounts...... Is it a spline or 50p shape. Ah right! I don't know and I'm at work so can't look at the new wheel I've got until the morning...

I've got a new steering wheel to fit. When I change it could I knock it off centre doing this or should I wait until I have the geometry done and fit it just before?
-
Coming along nicely now, once everything is done how long will it take to build the geo machine?

They have no option since the advent of the RFT. Yeah but wouldn't they will use it all cars, regardless of what tyres they use, as it will be a safer way of stopping them?
-
Sounds good, got to be better than trying to puncture the tyres!

A sneaky way of getting the customer to take it to the main dealer/other garage for a service?
-
If you don't have them in the lot you bought can you get them in? Yeah but they won't be cheap.... Maybe consider changing to a different size? They're the same size as what I had fitted at Kip's, 40 quid a tyre if I remember right. What size could I have then that will be roughly the same aspect ratio?
