  1. Nice, what spec / colour etc did you have?
  2. On the drive. Think it needs a new fuel pump ecu as its taking some turning over when warm to start up. Need to link the battery and fuel pump pins on the diagnostic sensor to see if it solves the problem, if it does, new fp ecu it will need. I quite fancy having a manual again.
  3. Are you sure a bright yellow road rocket would be a sleeper, lol. I'd quite like an 850 but some of the V70's are that bit newer and awd is available as well so i may look into those next perhaps.
  4. Nice, yellow can look good, shame Ford used the wrong shade for the focus, puma and ka ? special editions.
  5. MPG is probably not much worse than the Soarer, if not better. I remember years ago when they came out we had just been to the gym but there were too many of us to fit in one car, so i was in the V70R with my uncle and my aunt was in the galaxy. We came round a corner and we got through the lights but they changed before my aunt could get through. So we waited till she drove past, then pulled off in first, change to 2nd, not going that fast, then, foot to floor and off it went. The rev meter went up like i'd not seen before and the speedo needle was following it, i was loosing my breath (must have been pulling a few 'g's ) well i wasn't old enough to drive at the time and that must be the fastest thing i had been a passenger in. Very nice interior as well. My dad had a D5 S60 for just over a year and it was a very comfy car. The sporty models of V70 apparently have a pretty stiff ride and are nice for drivers handling wise and stay pretty flat whilst cornering, although front tyre wear rate can be abit shocking, i think with traction control on 9k was what my uncle managed from a pair. I do quite fancy one now though, they actually make one in a nice orange colour as well, maybe they wanted a tamer color than yellow from the 850 estate, lol.
  6. I fancy a V70 at the moment, something like an R or R AWD, or T5. Has anyone here driven / owned one? Are they reliable, and what are rough service costs / mpg etc? Thanks. Anyone want to buy a Soarer? .
  7. Ive seen them being used as there not ment to before, i think some people think they are as good as the other 3. Way too fast on a space saver.
  8. If they had an accident, you wonder if the insurance company would try and wriggle out of it?
  9. When my front bushes were replaced they replaced a little part that goes next to it, it costs £25. Apparently if this is not fitted it can cause the wheel to move forward under braking as you describe as it allows movement of the arm, remember this was replaced as well as new bushes. The Omega may not use these stoppers but they are in force in some cars to stop those symptoms. It was described to me as you describe it above, before i mentioned what you said and he explained it exactly as above when he was describing what it did and why he replaced it.
  10. Did you say you have replaced the front strut and spring or just the spring? is it possible the damper unit is partly bent thus when the suspension goes down it moves the wheel forward instead of going down cleanly. If weight is put on that corner when stationary does the wheel follow hte funny angle?
  11. Any bushes worn at all or a funny wheel bearing?
  12. Its the first one Tony with the negative film type boarder on the picture link.
  13. From what you know of the way punctures are caused do you think cars should have a "mud flap" infront of the rear tyre to stop debris hitting the rear tyre Tony. Also don't alot of Saabs have an odd looking flap underneath the car before the rear tyre. I wondered what it was for, maybe its to try and help stop punctures? Have you had many Saabs come in for rear tyres being punctured, if not maybe that is why. Maybe if no one else has you should patent the idea of the "rear anti puncture flap".
  14. My cars turning circle is 9.8M iirc, although it has a little help from the rear .
  15. Very close it would seem they posted 590 apparently after tuning. http://www.toyotaimportsforum.co.uk/forum/...highlight=drift There are a few threads about it on there, but that one has some build pictures as well.
  16. How powerful is it? Is it more powerful than the Soarer that Tiff was driving in the D1 is it? You both have a similar engine, it may be a 1jz in the soarer and you have a 2jz?
  17. Hmm, so say the new wheel combo went 20% more per revoloution than the older one. You could say that the brake would need more stopping power to haul the car to a stop. However if it had the power, then would it stop quicker? as the car would be going 20% faster for the same brake disk rpm's, so if slowing down then the car would be able to knock off an extra 6th of its distance per brake disk revoloution compared to with the smaller wheels would it not?
  18. But as the tyres are ultimately the same rolling radius (5mm different), surely the extra wheel diameter makes no difference and the wheels will still spin at the same rate? Bar any difference the tyres flexing makes.
  19. Under weight transfer, eg heavy braking, there would be more weight moved to the front on most cars, so with the OE wheels would the sidewall flex allow more tread to touch the floor? Does 100% tread touch the road surface in general or is it more of 85% of the tread in the middle touches the floor in general. As the 22" tyres probably wont flex much would they have less tread touch the floor under braking? Also different tyres treads seem to have different edges so would some have more grip under braking than others? I dont really know how having heavier rims effects the cars handling, i just recalled that it has more of an effect on the suspension as it has more weight to control with movement up and down so probably new adjustable dampers for rebound etc and a matched set of springs? to get better control of the rim. I dont know if increased wheel and tyre weight requires more braking force from the disk and pads to stop the car over lighter rim and tyre combinations though . Is there more torque (twisting force) creaated from the heavier rim + tyre combo that the brakes have to counter act as well?
  20. Using an online tyre size calculator the 22" rims + tyres are 5mm smaller rolling radius than OE if its correct. So the new tyres will read slower than the OE ones by a minute amount if i am correct? Thus the rolling radius shouldn't really change much, but would sidewall flex make a difference, more on the OE perhaps .
  21. You say about the consequences and radius difference, however you'd have to give us an idea of what the previous wheel was. Ie if it was a highish profile 20" it could be a lowish 22" and be similar distance per revoloution, but you are kind of hinting at there being a difference. However, perhaps a step up in the grade of the pad so it is a bit more aggressive at slowing down would be a good idea if it does indeed do less revolutions to cover the distance.
  22. As the wheel weighs more will that effect it? I take it that it will effect handling more as well as the suspension it is connected to (which has to control the extra weight on the suspension.) On another note the red stuff pads i had installed on the front do slow the car down somewhat quick when asked to, especially if they are slightly warm.
  23. 14MM of toe . My dads has worn down as in the picture in the other thread, maybe the same sort of thing.
  24. If you get one, you can bring it round to try it out, mobile geometry setting, you could be onto a winner there. I expect it costs more than the string and stands though , .
  25. Nice. They need to make a portable geometry machine.
