  1. 7-8 Kg is very low in mass to require excessive corrective compensation... There are three main areas that may realise a reason 1:- Operator error = poor workmanship 2:- Calibration error= poor maintenance 3:- Manufacturer error: = wheel centre not centred or designed for the balance's dye

    Tyre weights

Yes but the idea is to lessen the weight with a comparative correct size tyre..... The Principle is to have the lightest within a single size....... 185-60-14 Dunlop 4kg or 185-60-14 Pirelli 3.5kg, that is a comparative weight to manufacturer scale.

    Tyre weights

mmmmmm looky here Sorry..... Tyre weight by size is irrelevant unless the one size is compared with another make of tyre, then you can decide what make of tyre in that particular size suits by it's manufactured weight....... then trim it
  4. On the MX5 the camber positions are 'trim height' dependant, a rear trim of between 346-355mm would realise a natural -1 deg 14' taken as 60'/1 deg...... the scale shown 100'/1 deg converts to 1deg 30' at 60'/1 deg so the extra 16' is conservative and result in little tyre wear.
  5. Per side.... Camber reference is singular... Toe being Linear can be read as 'total'

    Tyre weights

I agree.... Road tyres for track days can only be 'Trimmed', this removes a desired amount of tread from the tyre by machine.
  7. The evolution was very innocent as far as the owner was concerned, but i wonder how the Police would have dealt with him if caught on those tyres?
  8. Bump For those who missed this example of Geometry ignorance.... This picy is wim's favorite.
  9. Nice work..... Nice work indeed!. I am looking forward to your cars development with the intention of learning by example.... I'm just very sorry i don't own the expertize to advise directly.... The only comfort i can offer is that we have some very experienced people here, who will I'm sure assist constructively (no pun intended)
  10. Bet my 'Dump' is bigger than yours ..... Valve i mean obviously ....... Actually i do understand the 'Willy' logic, i just struggle with the cost and the model of car..... I also advised him to remove the 1.4 confession from the boot
  11. Today a staff member was explaining he is having some new contraption fitted to his 04 Corsa that simulates the sound of a 'Dump Valve' ..... How sad is that
  12. I have set a few to these positions.... are they Lannys? The camber settings are conservative for tyre wear and the rear invites under-steer..... The extended Castor provides steering feed back and high speed security.... Toe Positive (total) at 1.75 to 3.4 mm adds to 'turn in' response... a nice over-all package.
  13. wire throttle + accelerator cable........ Tiss the same thing. not really, the cable is, just that a sleaved cable , the fly by wire throttle uses a varible resistance sensor on the throttle pedal or throttlebody(is200) and converts this signal for the ecu which then tells the throttle stepper motor what and how much to turn, if the system fails the mechanical cable still acts, on the throttle but the engine will only run in limp mode a similar fall back is used in steer by wire systems, there will always be a mechanical fall back Redundancy...... That does explain your post.....Steer by wire reads worrying for us old boys on the block..... what if the wet cell does a Kamikaze during the winter..... all we would have is wobbly steering wheel, and no steering action....
  14. wire throttle + accelerator cable........ Tiss the same thing. Anyhoo how would you feel driving the Monster (drive by wire)...... or could you even imagine Drifting by wire? and the inevitable electromagnetic sabotage at race days .... Julian with a microwave transmitter
  15. I think the Monster has set a president Mat.... Your step by step development and the assistance of tdiplc displays a matter of fact method for all to read and follow in LOC.... I only hope jon can display a similar example here in wim and guide people along with similar examples.... I feel the MR2 community will capture jon's work here since wim allows a very wide pictorial availability for the members aiding the understanding. Within a very short period of time wim has a wealth of strength within the members, a collaboration of skills and Development Support/Availability through tdiplc could only add to wim's infrastructure, jon's MR2 hopefully will develop before our eyes, Geometrically-Mechanically and soon be on the intended destination 'The Track'.
  16. With the initiation of the compact car the development has reached a stage were the design excludes a steering column, instead the car is 'Steer by wire' How do you feel about this direct mechanical detachment from the wheels.
  17. I now have the correct data for the Mazda MX5 NC available if anyone needs it. Despite the assurance from Autodata and Supertracker the NC does have 'stand alone' positions and is not a direct Geometric overlap of the NB
  18. jon you 'State Future projects waiting to be fitted' are these parts you have or parts you desire for the car.
  19. Fair comment!..... Your data would indeed compliment theory.
  20. What I'm about to type will make you sit back and think 'Twat' or I 'Understand' A track day would involve every possible example for exploration but only conclude that one example!.... As fascinating as it would be the results would not. could not be considered matter of fact... Only an example! Exploration needs to be Global retaining argument exploring the overall topic.

    tyres

Third World captures most spent tyres.
  22. What sizes and type of tyres do you need Mat... i will Pm you Tony First i must say well done with the Licence... Quite an achievement! Your quest opens a door i expect 'Trusted centres' to hold and support without expecting you to advertise their services (i do that)...... Maybe next season! but for now a real relationship should be born from development and availability rather than gain Drift is very close to my heart due to it's complexities.... Any opportunity to become part of the evolution is very welcomed! Actual sizes: Needed Actual patterns:Needed Let me fill the gaps.
  23. Example: RWD with negative front camber (compressive force negative) should also have positive front toe since the front wheels are being pushed+rolling resistance, unless you can gauntee the toe position will conclude a 0 position then the overall camber/temperature readings must then be fictitious... Lateral scrub generates much more heat than camber compression since the lateral scrub involves the entire tread, it is true to say the temperature differential will display a disparity but in reality if you are honest the results are hardly conclusive considering the variables.
