  1. this should help better explain why Avatar and the new 3d explosion is getting people exited (or maybe just us geeks :-) ) Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!
  2. lol The further away you are the easier it is, I sit about 2 foot from my 19" screen and that works well and no eye strain
  3. this may also help to explain what i mean Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!
  4. at least it went on the dyno! Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!
  5. they are the same, just from a slightly different angle. check the distance of the lamp (hanging from the ceiling) to the side of the image, in one image it is further away from the edge. its this different perspective in one image that mimics the different perspective your eyes have. if you can cross your eyes do so progressively untill the two images merge, the result appears to be 3d. this may help a little http://www.neilcreek.com/blog/2008/02/28/h...-see-3d-photos/
  6. no, its a little more complicated than that. without the need for glasses envolves prisms and quite precise seating, like the 3d posters with the plastic textured film over them that you can get in hmv and zavvi ie http://www.europosters.co.uk/3d-posters/ currently the cinema uses polarised glasses (one virticaly polarised lens and one horizontal polarised lens) to ensure each eye sees a different image. the projector beams a virticaly polarised image to the screen then a horizontaly polarised image from a slightly different angle. this happens at a frame rate quick enough for you not to notice and your eyes simply process it like they do the real world. 3d tv uses shutters instead of polarised lenses, so the left lens is shuttered (goes black) while frame 1 is on the tv alowing your right eye to see it, then frame 2 displays and your left lens clears and your right lens becomes shuttered so your left eye sees frame 2, this continues alternating. again it happens so quick that you dont realy notice that your eye is missing frames of film. with this the glasses need to be in tune with the tv ensuring the correct timing of shutting else the image looks blury as you will see both images inteded for different eyes. the image at the start of this thread uses 2 imaged, one inteded for the left eye and one intended for the right eye, if you put those still imaged next to each other and went "cross eyed" the image would indeed appear to be actualy 3d heres an example there are loads of these online, i even had a book full of victorian examples as a child
  7. that image is absolutely awsome!
  8. yay the worlds fastest mr2, i remember when that was first posted up on the mr2oc, was epic!.....still is!
  9. this ones kinda creepy! Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!
  10. reminds me a little of this one, which was much much worse watch it all for the full impact or jump to 3:45 for the incident Please wait a few moments for Video to Load! focussed on the incident Please wait a few moments for Video to Load! what an absolute shamble, again it wasnt a marshall that got stuck in first, but a fellow race driver who very honourably stopped and ran back to rescue Tetsuya Ota from his burning car
  11. ive just come back from a week in York and on day one i believe i took over 200 photos, admitidly some of those will be deleted, but most of them will stay. I only have the 4Gb card that came with my sony a200 at the moment so transfuring the photos to a laptop seemed like a sencible way to both keep my card free as it would fill in a couple of days and also archive my photos on a daily basis as im quite anal about file structures and organisation. the second memory card and spare battery are what are missing from my bag at the moment, so being organised ensures i dont have any missed opertunities
  12. as above, they screw into the outside end of the lens on slr or dslr cameras, i only have one, so i swap it between my 2 lenses but i will probably get a second for the other lens as its a pain in the bum unscrewing and screwing it between the lenses.
  13. very well compiled video http://www.streetfire.net/video/wrc-gravel...ast_2022205.htm
  14. things ive found to be a "must have": camera bag! (good place to start!) UV filter (most importantly for protecting your lens from scratches, they are also very cheap at less than £10) clean lens cleaning cloth (ideal for if conditions are wet or dusty) a good quality tripod (you wont appreciate just how usefull this is untill you have one!) while on holiday ive found that in addition to the above there are a few things that can make your experience even better still: spare battery (an absolute must if you get too trigger happy) spare memory card (i find its better to have two good quality cards of good size, rather than a handfull of cheap various sizes) Laptop (if you have access to one and can store it safely while on holiday this is a great way to clear your cameras memory card at the end of each day) higher range zoom lens (my standard lens is 18-75 and my second lens is 70-300 this second lens really allows me to vary the pictures i take) with exception to the laptop, all of these things can be carried in a camera rucksack or a small camera bag while carrying the tripod by hand.
  15. i got a simple uv filter for my lense size from a local photography supply store, theyre pretty much all the same unless paying good money for perfect glass. ( much like with buying lenses) definatly a must have accessory
  16. "what just happened? ......like......did i pop the tyre? is that what happened?" Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!
