  1. Probably quite handy to read-up on what's been done to it before starting eh ?
  2. Camber "optimization" what a pants idea. Unless you buy the special tool then it's a wheels raised job and it can go tits up real fast. Personally i think this was an after thought by Audi?.... well yes you can optimize the camber but what about the SAI that's now off-set?

    CIH's S12 Silvia

Seems the S12 sufers especially from seeing extra neg. camber on the rear when lowered and the suspension doesn't lend itself to adjustment. Oh and hurray, cambelt kit has finally arrived but I've hurt my ankle so it's gonna have to wait some more...

    CIH's Training Thread

Shame I hadn't browsed the Saab thread prior to looking at the grey 93 a few days ago. I had read it before but couldn't remembver the details *shrugs*

I belive S13 suspension, brakers wheels etc (including coilovers) can be retro fitted. As can S14 parts for a 5 stud conversion. The rear is less straightforward, though, and reducing camber incurred from lowering has caused the S12OC some headaches.

Got the full log-book today and it was first registered August 1989. Very late I believe, and well into S13 200SX territory.

Couldn't see any problems with the bulkhead on that Saab we had intoday. To be honest it probably didn't drive that bad. Anyway, cheap directional tyres put on the rear and the 40psi pressure was dropped somewhat....
  8. wouldn't the camber shunt have an undesired impact on SAI too ?

    mx5 alignment

Are those sprint bias figures ?

    mx5 alignment

I thought Castor assisted SR migration ?

    mx5 alignment

Cam I take a guess ? Camber to aid overall grip, the castor to aid turn-in and the rear toe to combat excessive understeer ?
  12. what's all this ? Keeping an eye on the "competition" (I use that word loosely) ?
  13. Would this cause general steering slop and a tendancy to follow ruts in the road etc ? Reason I ask is we had a 2003-ish 93 with margional geo readings but drove terrible despite a good look over. I had read this thread prior but only had a vague recollection and was probably lookin in the wrong area of the firewall.
  14. So were new positions offically adopted ? I suppose the Z33 entry on my database (if there even is one), not to mention the target figures Daaave posted, are originals ? On that point, looking at that report, do we think the operator put Toe "spot on" but found they had run out of adjustment for camber ie; tried to treat the two angles as two different entites ?

Almost ironic isn't it ? Were they new tyres ? I can imagine trying the shunt and pushing the whole car across on the ramp. How did the SAI and IA react ?

    CIH's S12 Silvia

Had the car inwork the past couple of days for odds 'n' sods. Found a sticky O/S/R brake caliper. No wonder it's not so fast and not so frugal We also had a Nismo kitted Z33 in for tyres and they were briefly sat side by side. No pictures as my phone battery was dead! edit: oh and a good look underneath showed no rust to speak of! hurrah!

oh yeah ofcourse I didn't twig the "lower axle". what fields btw ? I may atleast have some of them ?
  18. I think that's the problem as I don't really have anywhere to display them. Actually, no. Secretly, I'm saving them for when I get my own gaffe but I don't know when that will be.
  19. Isn't the Z33 one of those cars where the factory settings aren't so clever ? Incidentally, I use a '600 too and, pre-wim, had never heard of seconday angles.....

    CIH's Training Thread

Yes, but with a few options missing (IIRC): Zoom In Do not allow one rear target to be blocked Adjust to half Tolerance - I think tolerance can be adjusted but have never done so Additional measeurement procedures - If this is for secondary angles, the option is elsewhere. How come your toe angle bar-graphs are grey BTW ? Presumeably every car has a Toe OEM figure ?
  21. My collection of unstarted model kits. Maybe I'm saving them for a rainy day ? -edit: updated with new arrivals (S13 Silvia & R32) -updated 02/11/2008 - Sukhoi Flanker & Tmcat arrived, MIG21 & F8E (not shown) on the way out. Babylon 5 Starfury. I'm keen for a Thunderbolt Starfury but have never seen a kit anywhere. -My absolute favourites, from the Macross Plus/Zero anime show. Imported direct from Japan & Hong Kong. I doubt I'll ever feel I can do them justice so they'll probably never get built.
  22. I love the late model Countach (LP500 ?). If you're gonna go crazy and get a supercar, best to get the craziest you can find. I've got a pretty big collection of Airfix style plastic kits but have made no attempt to build them. Just bought a couple more this week. Probably because I don't have anywhere to put them. I'll put up the pictures of my kits if anyone wants to see them ? edit: actually, I'll start another thread.

    CIH's S12 Silvia

IIRC they won't cover Manchester. TBH with an MX5 I would have just been turning eccentrics but I'm keen to expand into aftermarket kits. An S12 looks to be a good option in that respect.
