  1. Sorry to bother you again, but when you get round to checking the prices, could you also let me know how much more it is for performance grooved discs? Thanks
  2. Sorry to be an idiot but what's the index number?
  3. Ahh so you'd recommend ADL discs rather than Mintex? Will I get the same performance and wear rate as I've had with the OEM stuff? And how much would the pads and discs cost? (Didn't realise you'd supply as well, if there isn't a huge difference in cost I can get the whole lot from you ) Have I got more or less out of them than I should have? I was thinking 20k was pushing on "not quite enough" but as mainly a town driver it seemed reasonable enough
  4. Cheers Tony, if that's the norm it's no problem, they've lasted 3 years which seems fine anyway. I've had recommendations on LOC for Mintex pads and discs..........would you say they were better than the OEM stuff? Also can you fit if I got some off ebay and how much would that cost? (it's just the fronts that need doing)
  5. Blimey that is a scary looking bulge - agreed, I really don't like this trend of no spare..............you either need runflats, or a full size spare, I wish the manufacturers would just pick one of these options and go with it!
  6. Have posted this on LOC, but thought I might get useful info on here too so here goes.......... My car's a 2002, and in 2005 I changed the front pads and discs, and now in 2008 it appears I need new front pads and discs again........ Are they supposed to last the same amount of time like that? I've done just over 40k miles I think, and seeing as both sets have lasted exactly 3 years and similar mileage it doesn't seem too weird, but just wanted to check as from other cars we tend to change the pads maybe twice before they need new discs.......... Also before I drop another £400 (or thereabouts) at Lexus for a new set of pads and discs, can I get the same quality for less money?
  7. Hmmm, how do you know if that happens? I assume you can't really tell from the way that wheel looks unless you take it off and check?
  8. Wow that is bad, why has the wheel maintained shape and just cracked rather than bend in at that point like my wheels did? Or maybe you've just answered that by the fact the run flats are so rigid that they themselves don't bend and simply transfer all the force straight through to the wheel...........
  9. Yep fair point, the comfort is a big problem, the Z4 is horrendously uncomfortable, have been in a Z4M which doesn't have runflats but despite the more focused suspension it was so much more comfortable
  10. I've gotta say except the really poor comfort, I don't mind runflats - a year ago my bro had a blow out at high speed on the motorway but in the car all that happened was we heard a loud "pop" and the warning indicator came on........that is life saving technology in my view. I just wish they'd speed up on the development of them though to iron out the problems with comfort - cost is also an issue but as they become more widely used this will come down. What I really despise is the more common trend now of the "space saver" spare wheel! What are you supposed to do with the real wheel once you've changed on to this? I'd probably rather have the runflat!
  11. Oh yeah, the BOSS, worth paying the price just to see it in action! From what I've heard as well run flats can't be repaired, but not sure if I heard that from Tony
  12. Ahh yes how could I forget the government's best friend........thanks Tony
  13. Is that £15 + something or just a typo? As long as it's not £15 + £50 then it should be ok Cheers Tony, I'll pass that on so he knows for next time........
  14. Can WIM fit run flat tyres to a BMW? Sorry if it's a dumb question but is there any actual difference in fitting between a normal tyre and the Bridgestone run flats fitted to BMWs? Only reason I ask is that my brother a few days ago paid £270 to have one new tyre fitted to his Z4 Surely there must be another way! The tyres cost £190 from Camskill so all depends on the fitting cost.........
  15. If this is the same stuff I've actually thought about buying in the past, then it's not an equivalent of tyre weld. It's something you put in your tyres when they're absolutely fine, and if you get a puncture, it seals the hole up. I didn't buy it at the time because I didn't believe it could actually work, but now I'm glad I didn't buy it for a whole new reason!
  16. Have you tried starting it using another car and jump cables? If it starts with no problems like that, it's probably just the battery........when was the last time the battery was changed?
  17. I've just been through this thread (and a long one it is!) and the place is looking fantastic! Sounds like a pretty testing process but I can't wait to see it for real........well done on everything so far
  18. That is good news indeed, thanks - will be in touch soon depending on the outcome of the claim, need to get the geo done anyway, so will do it all at once if required
  19. Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure what the difference is! Basically this is what one of my alloys looks like at the moment, I took it up to BJV Engineering in Herts who said that was repairable but I wouldn't mind a second opinion:
  20. This is very good news, was planning on getting the alloys refurbed once I get a verdict on my claim with the council........ Can you straighten damaged wheels as well (in case the claim fails)?
