  1. Not sure where you got that from mate. It has been stated that a standard part caught fire on a car, whether it was having work done or not people should be made aware of which part and a possible reason for it, surely not too much to ask
  2. I agree, warnings should be given if posts take it off topic. Huh, I thought the outstanding issue is what part caught fire and why Which we still have not had a straight answer for.
  3. Hmmm, wonder if they'll do anything about my fuel sender sticking. Noticed it a few times now, when I fill up it says its still on quarter full
  4. actually yes, non were recalls, however the is300 was recalled for an ECU flash primary cat failing, premature excessive tyre wear front wheel inside edge addition of brace floor to frame fuel level sender sticking coolant pump seals weeping paint chip and body corrosion alloy wheel corrosion early radio CD mechanism jamming headlight condensation Was this in the UK Mat? Do you know if it affected the IS200 as well?
  5. No I didn't. That was the conclusion that you jumped to. Oops my bad, meant to say wasn't Thats how worried i am, i can't even spell correctly.
  6. So whats wrong with telling me the part that caught fire? My car is modified, not excessively but it is worrying now. Mark insists it was to do with the mods though. If a car caught fire for a mechanical reason it would be investigated by the Insurance at least.
  7. Not necesserily Tony, LOCs not like it used to be, some things get covered up very well. Perhaps it was a one off, but whats to say it won't happen again, I still think that if it was a standard part and it caught fire and the modifications played no part in it then it should be reported to be fully investigated. If i recall the thread correctly in LOC it was part of a "trader bashing" episode ..... I honestly think you are worrying unneccarily. Thats what the admin called it yeah This is a little more serious though mate, but without knowing exactly what part caught fire and why then i'm going to keep worrying everytime I drive the car, luckily I have an extinguisher (Law when traveling through Europe).

  9. If I had any concerns Lee, I'm sure people would know about it by now. If you do have any concerns I suggest you have your car inspected. Better safe than sorry. I really can't see why your so relaxed about it though. A customers car that was in your workshop had a standard part spontaneously combust and nothing has been done. Did TDi do there own investigation on the problem, or was it a known side effect of the modifications you were doing? I'm sorry but you have been misled. The car didn't sponateously combust, not was it in our work shop. I would only be concerned about it if someone else had a car that was exactly the same, which I don't believe anyone else has. We have our opinions on the cause, and do not feel the need to share them as there is no impact or concern for anyone else. Phew, thats alright then, I was getting worried then. Glad there is nothing to be concerned with and it was something to do with the modifications. Cheers again. It's never good to jump to conclusions, but I'm glad you're happy now Well it must have been to do with mods right, because from you say above this wouldn't happen on a standard car, can't see how thats jumping to conclusions, its just logical. Just out of interest, what part was it so I can check it over before I drive anywhere at the weekend.

  12. I think this is quite a serious situation now, you know of some sort of fault that affects a Lexus IS200, a standard part that isn't touched by your modifications and it hasn't been reported to Lexus. tbh mate I think your putting all out lives in danger by not letting anyone know about it. Ok, so it was probably only a little fire that was put out straight away by one of your team, but what if it happens to someone out in the middle of nowhere? The least that should be done, is it's reported to Leuxs GB asap so they can investigate.
  13. Nice post Marcus, forgot about this project, glad to see its coming along. Any news on getting it started?
  14. Hello, I'm a little worried about this statement What standard part failed and caught fire, what are the chances of this happening to someone else. Think this needs to be made public and everyone aware of it, after speaking with a tech guy at Lexus he has never heard of a standard part catching fire. Think Lexus GB need to be informed incase this turns into a real problem. Cheers Lee.
  15. Not meaning to cause alarm, but what standard part was this? Should we all be wary of it. Surely this can happen to anyone of us.
  16. Got the video editted quickly will do a better copy when I get more time Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!
  17. So this is just with the Stage 1 and the camcon fitted
  18. If we were rounding then mine mine'd be 189 It won't be there for long though
  19. Funny you should mention that - i found one as we were closing up.... needless to say, it's not much good now Just out of interest did you also find my 2 part little black thing that takes the locking wheelnut covers off. I assumed he put it back in the center console with the locking nut socket but couldn't find this morning
  20. 188.8 at the wheels, so estimated with a 20% transmission loss 227 at the fly. Very happy with that, only thing I have done since the Ireland meet was replce the airbox filter with a RamAir one Makes me think the dyno in Ireland wasn't very accurate as the weather yeasterday was about the same as Ireland in March
