  1. I had brake vibration on a ML63 AMG that had had new Genuine discs all round, front pads Tarox rear Pagid. I run a dial gage on each disc and on the outer rim no runout but one, N/S front was off the clock. I pulled all the discs and that front had a huge rust scab on the hub face. It looked like it had been a problem the last owner had tried to over come with cranking the wheel nuts up so tight I needed a 1M bar to undo the bolts! The wheel had some hub distortion on the rear face! All cleaned up and better but still had a vibration even when the dial gage read true on the outer face. Time to get it on a MAD disc cutter as the pads had worn the disc uneven. Results are 100% and just a small amount of each front inside and out where cut with the MAD cutter. Brakes are now silky smooth.
  2. Great advice today Tony, both bolts now fitted and when I take a measurement from front to rear wheel its within 1mm so fixed that issue. Back on the hunter tomorrow so will report back. Ian
  3. Hi, I have an SLK i am rebuilding after a near side crash, damage bent the rear track control arm and damaged the front ball joint. New parts fitted and just had it on a Hunter today. It has setback of 8mm and steering wheel is off set and esp light is on. I have just picked up some adjustment bolts to see if I can move it forwards just enough. Caster is 10 deg 28 mins on the crash side. Caster on the good side 12 deg 07 mins camber on the crash side is -1deg 44 and in the green camber on the good side is -1deg 02 and in the red toe on the good side 0.15 toe on the crash side 0.12
  4. Just rememberd when it was done, its was on the ground over a pit so camber was set in position, I remember they used a hydraulic dozer to gently push the wheel out at the top and then gun the bolts checking all the time on a optical camber device as it moves as the bolts are done up.
  5. Sounds like a job for you Tony. All 3 Vitos need sorting out, mine has some random clunk that I need so sort, I have just done both bottom ball joints and just about the service the rack with new inner ball joints and track rod ends, as soon at thats done I will call and book it in. Thanks for the help.
  6. Yes it has fixed bottom ball joint and then the camber is two bolts on the strut to hub, one bolt moves the hub in and out.
  7. Mine is not as bad but well on the way, both inside and both near side front.
  8. Hi, Yes right on the edge / side wall, a good chanfer on the tyre, I have a picture, I will try and post it here, this is my mates through to the wires. And yes the off side is fine, rear great no problems there.
  9. Hi, yes after it was lowered because to remove the front struts you take the shock from the hub so camber adjustment is lost. What ever settings they dial in on 3 different vans all wreck the same tyre?
  10. Hi, First post. I am looking for some help on Vito and Viano set up, I have lowered a few now and all have the same problem, its killing the inside of the front near side tyre, right on the edge, I mate has just found his is down to the wires! It drives ok, does not appear to pull but does drift of to the left. This has happened to 3 different Vitos all lowered and set up, same problem, what is going on and can it be fixed? Any help please as we both need front tyres. I am running 255/35/20 and my mates running 245/45/19 tyres, ET 56 genuine Mercedes wheels on both.
