    Coilovers

Finally had the eibach springs fitted last Thursday. Verdict so far on motorways cant really tell the difference as did not have the chance to push the car, on A road feels really planted especially on corners, the ride comfortabilty feels the same which is a good thing and it looks much better. All in all quite happy with the springs but it still tramlines. Anyway thanks to Tony for sorting it out but I must point out though that a remark said by one of your colleague has left a bad taste.

Thanks Terry, now all I got to do is order the springs and hopefully get an appointment sorted for 2nd week in September with WIM.

    Coilovers

Coilovers are height adjustable via the spring perches that are threaded onto the shock body. The shocks normally offer a range of adjustability that can include shock compression (the downward stroke) and rebound (the upward stroke of the shock as the suspension unloads) with as many as 15 or more settings for each. As you appear to have a fixed 30mm drop in mind, this range of adjustment doesn't appear to be essential to your needs. The other feature of coilovers is the ability to change the stiffness of the shock absorbers, but the Eibach Pro Springset is a very good compromise for a road car in being slightly stiffer without totally ruining the ride comfort. I found the standard shock absorbers to be perfectly adequate even with the lower ride height with the American spec springs. Assuming you're not wanting to alter the ride height and stiffness every week-end for putting the car on the track, I'd say lowering springs are what you need. However, if money isn't a concern and you or you want to play with the settings then buy coilovers. Yes 30mm is what I have in mind and thats because dropping any lower requires after market camber adjusters which is not the route I want to take, but having said that all I am looking for is handling/ride comfort and if the springs can do that then I would go for the Eibachs.

    Coilovers

That was an expensive 8.1mm then If I were you Suren, I would ask WIM to fit the European Specification EiBach Pro Springset which will drop the car 30mm all round. The front of my 250 was dropped 1.5" (38.1mm) but the rear was only 1" (25.4mm). So you reckon it should be EiBach springs and not the coilovers, even with a 17'' wheels. I do want to drop the front to 30mm not sure about the rear without using the camber adjusters but confused between coilovers or springs so any suggestions are welcome. Yes and I would like WIM to fit them.

    Coilovers

The toe on an IS250 adjustable right?, now i believe the reason why tango fitted an after market front camber adjusters was because of uneven wear on his tyres. Do you think I would need a front camber adjusters if I am lowering my car with coilovers. Thanks

    Coilovers

It was the same adjusters used on Tango's car but not sure if I would need a rear adjusters as I am thinking fitting a coilover instead of springs. Thanks

    Coilovers

Hi Tony, Sory to bump here If I were to fit the coilovers on to my IS250, I would need an aftermarket camber adjusters but do I need one for the rear to.
  11. Yes why my car and why only happening in the last 4 months, never was like this prior to that it was a joy to drive it now I feel like binning it
  12. No Tony its not missing, but is there a solution for the aerodynamics poblem.
  13. If it is an aerodynamic issue is there a solution to it? Sorry but what do you mean by if any trim is missing? What do I need to look for?
  14. It feels a little like that but more of not 'planted' at speeds over 60. Like you feel the car is going to take off
  15. No but increases your fuel consumption lol
  16. Yes you can but wouldnt make any difference to the steering
  17. Any further thoughts on that Tony? Thanks
  18. Meaning by EPS adding weight to the steering, the steering feels 'solid as you drive faster and yes thats how the steering feels when I drive and thats not the issue, the issue is the wheels dont feel its touching the 'floor' as I drive faster kinda feel like you are floating. Hope I have explained myself clearer.
  19. Tony, I thought Ill give you a feeedback after my trip down to WIM yesterday, first of all it was a pleasure meeting you yesteday. Did a 100 mile return trip yesterday, now tramlining is not as bad as it was before and the steering feels much better now but the issue of the car not feeling 'planted' and the 'nervousness' is still there at speeds over 65. I am not sure if this can be cured, as was never like this before. Any suggestions?
  20. Another update on my ongoing saga with my lexus, just booked a visit to WIM to sort out my Geo, as it seems they have done it wrong. For 3 months now trying to sort out the issues, from replacing track rod end to replacing my tyres twice and then the steering rack replacement and now finally to geo in the hopes to get my car back to how it was before.Looking forward to my visit to WIM and in the hope that Tony will sort it out.
  21. 3.5 years for that. Is that a joke?
  22. Here's one with peeps you may recognise http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=60275 and here's a link for the owner to check his VIN against 9LC, which is the Lexus campaign/recall for the steering rack http://9lc-lookup.imagespm.info/fra_home.cfm and here's a summary of all the recalls/TSIB's/Service Campaigns, see 9LC for the steering issue http://www.faqs.org/car/lexus-is-2007/ Thanks Tango did try the link to check against the the recall but it comes back with incorrect VIN, not sure why. cheers
  23. It's a rack and pinion EPS system (Electric Power Steering) and it was a major issue as hundreds (millions?) were recalled globally for the racks to be changed out, including mine at 2,500 quid a pop don't know if this included labour, but it took around 4 hours to do. Some people had already experienced what appeared to be total failure of the power assist at low speeds as they couldn't turn the wheels at all. On the original rack my car seemed to have a vagueness in steering and seemed to drift about at higher speeds, and this was cured by changing the rack. The system is speed sensitive so the feedback from the wheel changes the faster you go, becomes 'firmer', so it appears this system failed resulting in almost a reversal of the intent i.e. reduced power assist at low speed and too much at the higher end. . Got the date wrong, it was two years ago, the recall included certain 2007 GS 450h, 2006 2007 GS, IS and RX 400h vehicles and fault was assigned to a faulty electric motor. Well mine had the same problem with the vagueness of the steering at high speeds and slight drifting, but lexus canterbury was adamant there was nothing wrong with it they even blamed the road surface on top of that it was tram lining which it never did before. Tango do you know what year IS model were recalled as mine is 2007. Thanks
  24. Hi All, Final update had my car checked by Lexus Sidcup they acknowledged that there was an issue with the steering. They reckon it was the steering rack, had the steering rack replaced and the car drives the way it use to. It took me 2 months to get this sorted out with Lexus Canterbury who claims there was nothing wrong with the car, i seriously thought I was losing my mind. Anyway I would like to thank Tony for all the help he has given me here and on the phone. Thanks Tony again. . p.s Yes I would be sending in a complaint against Lexus Canterbury.
  25. Hi TOny I have emailed you instead thought it's quicker. Please let me have your thoughts on it as I am going tomorrow to Sts again
