  1. Lastly - regarding the rear camber - I do have an unused Eibach 'PRO-ALIGNMENT Camber Bolt Kit' 'Rear - Camber +/-3.0, Toe +/-3.0 Degrees Of Adjustment' I forgot I had those sitting in a box note: Of course an adjustable camber arm and 'lock out' bolts would probably be better, as I gather these type of bolts can slip over time/use.
  2. Hi, I get most of my bits and pieces from Adrian @ Torqen, he's nearly finished the website so it should be up soon but if not, you can PM him via the forum: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/228-torqen/ Good prices, service and friendly. I've met him a few times, he's helped me out with my car and always kept me up-to-date with any orders (excuse the ramblings here) Soo, Saturday was pretty hectic ! Drove down to Farnham, installed the front ARB, then had the new rear tyres fitted (kept the old tyres for a track day or driver training day - repaired one, screw in it), then installed the rear ARB. No issues, I had to remove a bit of the rear exhaust in order to get the rear bar on but that was after 30 mins of farting around trying to do it without that... why I didn't just undo 3 bolts and then do it, literally took 2 mins after that After that, straight up to the MOT garage. Passed Back home to finish off a few odd jobs on the car, finally done around 9pm, finally ate something after 28 hours of no food and straight to bed. Sun morning, just woke up in time as a friend came over with his NSX, it's one of my icons and I hadn't ever sat in one before... let alone drive one ! (same with the F50, first time to sit in one, then drove it) So despite the poor weather, he drove around for a while, we're both very enthusiastic about the NSX (he has 3 or 4!), then he said, go for it see what you think ! Wowza, WHAT A CAR !!! Beautiful in every respect, quicker than the numbers suggest and just a dream to drive on the road. The only aspect I wasn't keen on was the electric steering, it's very light in feel but the fuse can be pulled if wanted. It wasn't horrible just overly light. That v6 induction howl is intoxicating, and it just pulls and pulls to the redline. After an hour or so we swapped back over to my 350z, the seating position felt really weird initially but in terms of handling, just as neutral and compliant with a totally different exhaust driven noise. My steering is far heavier and a pleasure to drive hard but it feels like it could do with a little more sharper turn-in. I don't know if that means I should try the front ARB on the stiffer setting (currently set to soft on the front, and mid on the rear - 2 settings for the front, 3 for the rear) or if it means we could have a little more camber front and rear ? (I'm told the rear should be able to get up-to -2 on the stock bar but I don't know that for sure) Oh and next month, I must install a short shifter, the precision on the NSX shift is a pure joy to use.
  3. I should be out driving it tomorrow/sun. I'll be installing the new Eibach adjustable anti roll bars, and a new set of rear boots Looking forward to seeing how much the adjustable can affect the feel of the car now.
  4. Many thanks for popping down today Tony, it was a pleasure to meet you, Joe and the rest of the team  I know 100% I'll not be going anywhere else to have alignments done, it was handled with superbly and far quicker than I expected !!! I'm soo glad Joe figured out very quickly why I couldn't get the split pin through the bolt, as I thought it just required further tightening but it was just an additional collar that wasn't required in there My drive back has only been on the M25 back into town, so nothing fun just yet but already the car feels far more relaxing to drive and changes direction nicely. I should have the new adjustable anti-roll bars on by Saturday and will go for a proper drive Sunday morning I'll report back how it's feeling.
  5. Ah I had no idea, and I'm sorry to hear about this Tony. However, I'm looking forward to meeting you and the WIM team I've absolutely gained a tiny bit of knowledge over the last few weeks regarding the suspension and brake system - whether I wanted to or not I guess it's that little bit of engineer within that likes to know how things work. (and a pre-warning, yes my rear tyres shall be replaced next week !)
  6. This is exactly why I'm coming back, especially now that the front end has more adjustment as it goes far beyond what most places will be experienced with, let alone tailoring it to expected usage. I think a few of the guys from the 350z forum are aware I'm heading over, and I'll ensure they know of this thread & WIM as well. Oh how naive I was thinking I could adjust it myself (well, ok technically I adjusted it - to nothing useful)
  7. Fantastic stuff, feels like I have the A-Team on it ! Joe, you're probably going to be laughing or cringing at how badly out it is at the moment I shall be driving over very slowly.
  8. Yes that's the adapter, here's the pic again if it helps: I saw other people complained about it bending but it's a really solid piece, so I think it was more likely an older design, as my main vs820 was v4 and the cap was v3 (iirc). It has a convex underside to it which really helps sealing it to the master cylinder. The master cylinder on my car has 3 tabs to secure it rather than a thread, so I just drilled a hole in the spare cap, removed the hose fitting from the cap that comes with the VS820 (just a 17mm nut), bought some washers from a hardware store and retrofitted it to the spare Nissan cap. All I have to do now is epoxy the rubber venting cap thing back in there as they all have a breather hole of some sort: 'All master cylinders have to have some way to allow the fluid level to drop over time. If not, they would create a vacuum and the fluid would cavitate in the system causing it to bubble. The cap, is a breather vent.' I'll take some pictures of it soon, as it's currently in a garage back in Surrey.
  9. I can try and measure the deadblow hammer for you tonight, no problemo. Halfords sell one that's very similar if you happen to drop in. As mentioned in my thread, I believe the ABS module is the culprit in my case, thus triggering it with the Nissan software or braking hard somewhere a few times (IF your brakes work that is!). The universal cap that came with it is fine. It's version 3 of it, which retained a decent seal and didn't leak. Or you can just get a spare cap, and with the standard fitting kit just pop it onto the spare cap and you're done.
  10. If you check this thread, it's something I've been doing recently with the sealey vs820 : http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/96202-bleeding-brakes-sealey-vs820-pressure-bleeder-review/?do=findComment&comment=1452922
  11. Yep - that definitely happened. My fault, totally - it's a bit of a balancing act I see
  12. A local place let me pop it up on their ramp with a Hunter machine but it was getting towards closing time. It was weird, I got the camber pretty close, and one sides caster... However the opposite side caster got less and less. I'll call tomorrow morning.
  13. Spent quite some time trying to get it but ultimately failed hah. I'm going to have to book it in with you guy's asap.
  14. Exactly. Where it was before seemed like it was putting a bit too much stress on that joint, now it's at -2 the thread 99% within the joint now. So I feel more confident with it there as well. (it was only temporarily set there)
  15. I didn't get a chance last weekend to do this but this time I will. I'll report back once adjusted. I did get the camber from -1°5 to -2 though.
  16. Many thanks for the clarification on that. I'll see how it goes, I know that there isn't much adjustment in those end bolts, quite minimal thread it seemed.
  17. Just very quickly in regards to camber migration being slow, does that account for a slower steering response feel ?
  18. Many thanks for your help Tony, I'm still (obviously ) learning and good to know these details . I'll try and dial it in a bit better this weekend, if not much better I'll get myself booked in over to you when convenient.
  19. Ahh yes I see. I wasn't entirely sure if those end parts were used for that, well that'll save pressing the bushing out hopefully
  20. Once I get back to my Mum's place on the weekend I'll dig out some previous alignment print outs and see what's what. I dug this out from the manual: Caster min 7.42deg nominal 8.17deg max 8.92deg L/R diff. .75deg So bringing it back to around 8.5 would be a bit better I guess. Tony - I presume this is something you can do ? (I'm guessing the bushing needs pressing out and rotating?)
  21. Hey Tony, many thanks for your input ! These are the adjustable upper camber arms I have: http://www.driftworks.com/driftworks-front-camber-arms-nissan-350z.html I forgot to mention I also have most of the front end with Prothane poly bushings installed (very good quality and price), the only one which isn't is the compression arm/rod which has a SuperPro bushing with adjustable caster. SPF2849K PDF here: http://www.superpro.com.au/superpro-parts/?p=superpro-bushing-kit-spf2849k&view=part&id=SPF2849K&cid=999501121&vid= As these were just installed onto new compression arms, they probably require a bit of adjustment.
  22. Hi guys, a very long old time since I've been here but HAVEN'T forgotten I'm just in the process of making adjustments to my car, specifically the handling, largely for b road driving and a few track days. It's on the 18" ray's (8jF 8.5jR/+30mm offset F +33mm offset R/225/45 & 245/45 MPSS), slightly lower on Tein S springs (drop is small, -17mm F -14mm R) and Bilstein B6 shocks, DW adjustable front camber arms and just waiting for the Eibach adjustable ARB's. Front Camber: -2°L -2°R Caster: 9° L 9°11 R Toe: 0°02 L 0°02 R Rear Camber -1°47 L -1°44 R Toe: 0°05 L 0°04 R Steer ahead: 0°00 Thrust angle: 0°00 Just wondering if that seems like a reasonable set up ?
  23. Too right, forget world peace - just give us smooth asphalt please
  24. Ah thanks for the info. I also emailed BC Racing just before posting this message originally to see what they said as well. The support chap is just finding out some info for me but initial response is for the 4/6kg largely with road/occ track. I guess the good thing is, if I try out the softer springs then later do more track days, at least I'll have the harder springs to swap over to. Who knows, maybe some roads will get resurfaced as well !
