  1. I love mechanical things, gears and levers. That advert style is right up my street
  2. 1997 GTR longtail, one of only 10. I fell in love with McLaren F1 all over again when I first saw this pic of the road legal longtail known as the GT, one of only 3!
  3. it has all of the video edit traits of a hoax project.
  4. I like how your warning was that it contained religious content, not "strong views"
  5. anything is possible, it most certainly isn't their first attempt!
  6. good to see him using both hands and paying good attention to the road and his surroundings..... no wait... that didn't happen!
  7. I found a copy of the original video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VydPQuLyEns
  8. I don't even! Now ive been an archer for a couple of years, I know theres another forum member who knows much more on archery than I, but this is some crazy (unsafe) stuff. I can see some elements of logic in reading into historic images etc, but you have to remember that the images were drawn typically by people who didn't do archery, so there is a possible level of misinformation and then misinterpretation. However, I love this idea and if I had a big enough back garden I would most certainly be having a go!
  9. that ticks all the boxes for me, I love the 1900+ worn wood and brass look, exposed components and rough charm
  10. looks like a volcanic storm, the change in electric charge when a volcano erupts can cause massive electrical storms, looks fantastic
  11. the grass would also be correct if rotated 90 degrees. one big give away is the sky, we're meant to be looking down at him hanging...... so why is the sky below him? surely we should see the ground or some lower rocks?
  12. cant be born too often if the all come from F50's!
  13. a range of things have changed. Firstly the technique has been honed over the years that these guys have been playing, so the introduction of the coolant into the system is gradual so that it does shock the components, obviously this would cause problems. But also improvements in motherboard design, manufacturers know that guys are doing this kind of thing so have designed tighter and more feature rich motherboards to cater for this kind of competition. Having accurate and reliable voltage is essential and being able to monitor those readings live and accurately is essential. Plus having processors which run cooler natively can all contribute to achieving much higher overclocks. Its like building a race engine from a mainstream engine, you need to pick a worthy starting block in the first place then learn it inside out before raising its output.
  14. good god, how old is that video!? liquid nitrogen has been used in competitive overclocking for a few years now. The basics are that as you run a chip faster than its rated clock speed (overclocking) it produces more heat, this leads to errors and an unstable processor. To some degree reducing the heat returns the stability and gives more overhead for increased overclocking. There is however an inevitable limit to clock speed much like engine rpm, there are many things you can do to get closer to that higher speed and improve stability but there will always be a limit. http://youtu.be/goRB91SR-gY
  15. bits of the video look sped up, only a fraction but more than the native frame rate of the original video. I might be wrong though
  16. considering the time taken to make the piece and the wastage to get near perfect parts I can imagine it costing an enormous amount of money to produce. I would be interested to see what the profit margin is on this piece!
  17. if that kid with the crutches didnt have it bad enough already, he sure could have done without being involved in that!
  18. since this video went viral a couple of years ago his dancing feels kinda too similar each time to keep me entertained http://youtu.be/LXO-jKksQkM
  19. This is as I though, thank you. Having experimented with my last car I am very aware that the feel of winter tyres is different to summer tyres. Having run winters all year for 3 years on the xsara the wear is perfectly even across the tyre so I believe I found the sweet spot like your image above shows. With the new car I have been trying to find that sweet spot again but wondered if there were a marker on the tyre itself to help show that perfect point.
  20. Hey guys, having changed cars and fitted new winter tyres I have been left looking for the ideal tyre pressure for the new car. With my old Xsara having changed from summer tyres to winter tyres I found that the recommended pressures were resulting in underinflated wear on the winter tyres. So I experimented with pressures and found that with the Xsara 2 or 3 psi more than the book brought the wear into line and improved the drive noticeably. What I also noticed was that although the front and rear pressures were different the area of tyre that you can see making contact with the ground was the same front and rear. You could see this as the sipes of the winter tyre stopped just where the contact stopped. Is this just a coincidence? Is it possible to visually check the contact patch to refine tyre pressure appropriate for the tyre? If so what part of the tyre should be in constant contact with the road and is there a marker on the tyre? As I now have a Grand Scenic I have put winters on and again they appear and feel underinflated. I have over inflated the tyre by approximately 3 psi front and rear over the Renault recommended pressure. Heres a pic of what I mean by visual contact mark and this is the front tyre on my scenic .
  21. possibly a video edit to make it seem like it was struck by lightening?
  22. Really sorry to hear of your loss chap, I lost my Nan only a few weeks ago so I can only imagine how you have been feeling. You have my sympathy. I always love seeing your posts as your customers are much more privileged than myself and its a great opportunity to see these beautiful cars in a different light.
  23. you see far less of this type of advert on tv these days, as a kid I remember seeing think bike, green cross code man and all sorts of other public safety information during adverts. I think it would hit harder and more often if they put this kind of advert on tv. Theres too many school run mums and business suit blokes driving too quick around here.
