    New OZ

Just fitted these early this morning OZ Ultraleggera 17 x 8 with 215 x 40 x 17 so I thought I better had take a trip to my local alignment centre to get the alignment and camber checked. The pictures aren’t too bad considering it was raining but at least they are on and all appears to be ok. Here is a before and after print out of the check. Ok now here’s the problem the guy that did the work was French and didn’t speak hardly any English anyway I think I managed to put myself over in a manner that he understood because from the print outs all appears to be o.k. anyone has any comments please feel very free to do so.
  7. Pretty much mate, this is what makes WIM unique Loads of examples around of garages having the equipment but not the knowledge to use it. You would have thought that the equipment would be a large expense for a garage so it should go without saying to have a trained technician to operate it?
  8. So it’s not as straight forward as the machine having a data base and able to be set up for vehicle specific more down to the operator having the knowledge to set up the geo using the machine as a tool to finally tune it.
  9. the car handles well at speed but I still notice just a bit too much roll on the front end when powering out of a bend I know that there is going to be some give but now I have got used to the car I would have preferred it to be a bit flatter when powering out of a corner i thought that by lowering the aspect ratio and wider rims would help if this doesn’t then I was looking at replacing the front/rear ARB’s possibly the drop links at the same time, as I see them as an improvement anyway. Over the next few months the car is going to be fitted with a Roadster sports header and I high flow cat also its going to a local engine specialist to have Ecu modifications and possibly the cam replaced, I am looking at getting as much power /0-60 out of the mx 2.0l as I can but still keep it legal, and normally aspirated .So I suppose I am looking at a set up that allows me to do this. The issue with having my wheels balanced and camber and realignment checked is of concern to me because this crash/repair centre I picked supposed to be specialist in this field and I thought that I would have got a more clearer answer and just seemed a bit vague. DOH ! just read the post on customer own parts so can i bring my wheels and Arb's,Wim balance and fit and then make any adjustment to the goe also you supply and fit droplinks?
  10. I tell you what Tony I gunna keep um all crossed and hope that they are on the same hymn sheet as you mate ,cus these 4 bad boys are just sat on my lounge floor looking at me ( as wheels do if know what I mean ) saying something in tyre language . Oh dear think I better go out for a smoke and a sit down.
  11. Can I ask a question from a complete novice? How long does it take a national centre to balance 4 new alloys, how about adjusting the camber (camber because I am going from 16x6.5 to 17x8) and just to check the alignment? They say phone back Monday the chap will be here then who does that work and I say well could I book it in for a Saturday morning anyway and the reply was that it may take longer than a morning to do the job. So does anybody know?
  12. Got a question about me wheels, shortly I will be upgrading from my stock 16x6.5 with a 55 offset to a 17x8 48 offset my car has been lowered and aligned ideally I would have preferred to visit your place again as I would like to upgrade my drop links as well but I think it may be a bit too far on the new wheels with the adjustments that need to be made? Is there any where closer to Coventry that you can recommend getting the adjustments done and fit the drop links or is it better to make the journey? I suppose I could bring the wheels down in another vehicle, any advice would be very welcome.
  13. Good luck mate, keeping everything crossed for ya...
  14. Not had the chance as I've been working. Going to buy some clear silcone this weekend and maybe do it next Thursday (my day off) or the weekend as it will need time to dry, forecast for rain tomorrow Now it's getting warmer the glass shouldn't get that much condensation compared to winter where it freezes!! I'm actually wondering if the cold weather could've killed the silcone I used last time I was just trying to think last time we had a leak I am sure I got a tube of black mastic type stuff really sticky but you could fill quite big gaps with it I think it was from Halfords and you used a sealant gun to apply it with. That's a good idea actually Have you seen the photos of where it's leaking further back in this thread - Link for you Yes I have seen that, how about you use a small piece of fibre glass but not with the resin and use that with that mastic from Halfords that way it will stay a bit flexible and not go hard and crack? Problem is it's a really tight area to work in as you have the strut tower in the way. The mastic should be enough, I will give that a go... Is it this stuff? That might be ok but the stuff I used, you used a mastic gun to apply it and I got it because it bonded to metal and I am pretty sure had a very good heat resistance to it.
  15. After 26 years together my wife still giggles at mine EAT NU !!!!

Decided to go for the OZ Ultraleggera in race gold 17 x 8 with 48 off-set should look stunning on my MX5 in Copper Red colour.
  20. Have you fixed your leak yet?
  21. Hi Essex Racer regarding you leak awhile ago I had a mondi and I had a stinker of a leak that was coming from in the engine bay where the pollen filter housing attached to the bulk head, also I know this might sound a bit obscure but years ago my wife had an maestro that was leaking threw the hole for Ariel cable which was on the roof, the water was getting in running down the inside of the right front window screen pillow and then worked its way under the carpets ( sorry I can’t be more technical in my answer just a thick truck driver) LOL

Another question about wheel off-set my current rim size is 16x6.5 off-set 55 I am looking at changing them to 16x7 off-set 43. I think this means that it would give 6mm more inner clearance and extend out another 18mm. Is this ok or do I need to keep to off-set 45 and above. A few mm +- is not a problem assuming clearance issues are ok. Thanks Tony. its going to have to be et 45 or above to give the brakes clearance know anyway but i still will be able to shave some weight off the unsprung side of things.
