    I got some alloys for my corsa recently and needed 4 new tyres from WIM ...I went for Avon ZV5....

    At first they where a little skittish,and had to brake sooner but now they have done approx 400 miles they are excellent tyres,very stable on the car at speed and braking and im really happy with the grip in the dry and the wet and they are very quiet which im chuffed about..... :rolleyes:

    The car was HPI checked and come up clear. The reason the AA said it was unfit to drive was because the CV joint is so laboured in it's perpendicular position, so the shaft on full lock could actually come out.

    Who did the HPI check the people buying the car i surpose..? Also if it was in a bad accident it would have been classed as an A,B,C,D or what ever on the HPI report ( unless it was done on the sly )

     

    Dont the dealership or car salesman have an obligation to tell the intended buyers that the car had been in a previous accident..?

    That is a nightmare and a horror story ...i thought that if the chassis was bent its classed as a "write off".....also the AA said it was unfit for the road so WHY are they still saying there nothing wrong with the car.? and selling it.... are they idiots.?

     

     

    When i damaged my old 53 plate lexus IS200 i hit a lamp post in the snow and the panels where damaged but the chassis was "bent" and they said if it wasnt for the chassis they would of repaired my car.?

    But as it was it was classed as a "write off"

    Jumping the barrier is one way to avoid the toll I suppose

    Yep straight through it and it went flying over the car!!! :lol: My tag didn't register, which would've opened the barrier, by the time I realised it wasn't open it was too late :lol:

    FAIL.! :lol: :P

    Just been looking this old thread no its been brought up again.....

    When i had my lexus IS200 i had to get new rear tyres..i opted for TOYO T1R`s and i had the same handling issue as you Jiberjaber,the car felt awfull at speed ...anything above 50mph and like you it felt like a boat OR i had a flat tyre feeling..... :lol: :o

     

    It was all down to the softer sidewall on the TOYO`s so i swaped them over with the DUNLOP SP SPORT MAXX ( japan )( which have a harder sidewall) and put the Toyo`s on the front and the car was back to normal.! :o

     

    I would definatly recomend the Dunlop sport Maxx (japan ) :P ( different tread compound made for the lexus and to replace the SP9000 ) :huh: the handling is great in the wet and dry and you know how far the limit is before they do break away ( very progressive ) they also last very well and are quiet too.! so all in all IMHO they are well worth buying .. :lol:

    Sounds like the same problem i had with my Lexus....If you remember Tony i had the same problem with my IS200 my NSF drive flange/hub was slightly warped and had no end of anoying vibration through the car at speed and under braking.....Getting a new one sorted the vibrations and the problem out...

     

    Dan did you clean the drive flange/hub before you put the new AP discs on..?

    Thanks Dazz - I think there's something very benign-looking about Retriever / Labrador faces (most of the time...)

    Although hope that the old adage about owners looking like their dogs doesn't hold true for everyone as that might make your nan look a bit odd... :lol:
