  1. hi, no they arent interested to say the least, not sure i trust them to dissmantle anything after there assistance so far! hoping it maybe something i could fix, ive been on the owners club and some have had there dampers replaced by ford but this hasnt cured it?! If the knock is metallic then there will be evidence of contact..... The likely criminal is either the top mount or play between the shaft and the damper body. If it's the top mount i would simply fabricate a gasket to fit between the top mount and the body...... Removing the shock is about 10min work. thanks Jammy which bolt are you talking about? the one that is accesible from inside the boot abd is attached to the strut shaft, or the 2 bolts that a re accessible from under th arch and bolt the rear top mount to the bodywork? later fords are prne to there top plate's comin loose all ford's ive had over last 5 years seem to work there way loose every 2 to 3 month's may be worth a look it will more then lickly be the nut under the top plate if this is the problem
  2. just an update...ford have said rear top mount has 'failed' when i spoke to the tech he said as they bed in they lose there silocone type coating and it can cause them to rub. will wait and see if replacement cures it.

  4. Hi, Hoping someone can help as Ford have been useless at fixing this!! I have problem with my 2007 Ford Focus ST. Basically im getting a knocking/ratle from the rear suspension top mounts, thought it may have been the seat belt cylinders but have stripped trim out bott and been driven round in car whilst in boot and it is definately coming from where the rear strut comes up into the body work. there is a rubber mount in there and it sounds like something is knocking/rubbing against the body work. for have tightened boot, greased seat latches, moved bits about in boot and done everything but fix it!!! its getting prgressively worse and notices most on ripples in road / rough road surfaces / where they have tarmaced over where pipes are, it occurs at all speeds and is driving me crazy!! any help appreciated will try and get pic if it helps this isnt my car but shows exact area of knock/rattle
