  1. You do need to book.... We are open 8.30-6.00 and Saturday 8.30-4.00 What is the complete size of you tyres. Sorry for the delay in replying been away... For the 17" they are 235/45/17" and I think need to be Z rated. If you are pretty sure the life can be extended to something more reasonable then I may stick with the 18" so they would be 225/40/18" (those are what are on at the moment). Cheers Allan
  2. OK thanks. Looks like I will have to have a trip down the M1 to come see you for the opportunity. Do I need to book in advance or just turn up. What times are you open (doesn't say that I can find). I see you also sell tyres but any idea on price? Cheers Allan
  3. The tyres that were on it when I had it were Avon ZZ3's, and I replaced it with these initially, but then when these were scrubbed out I had "midrange" tyres put on (Millenium brand what every they are). The current tyres which are wearing the same are Goodyear Eagle F1's (but these are 18"s and I have had no setup done). There is a good 5mm of tread on the outer edge of the tyre. Admission time.. when I saw they were scrubbing again I did up the pressures to try and get more life out of them which may be why the middles are looking a little low...
  4. Looks like I can't insert photos to the forum so here is a link to them. The tyres are 235/45/17 on genuine Lexus rims which are the correct size for the Se model. http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/1919847 The first two are the offside and the next 3 are the nearside. The last photo is the tyre actually on the car at the moment, but these are 18" wheels (225/40/18's) which I bought cheap, but these are wearing the same. I plan to go back to the 17's if I know what is eating the tyres which is where you come in Thanks Allan
  5. Right on the edge... about 4-5cm (inch and 3/4 old school) of the inside edge goes down and there is I would guess 4-5 mm remaining on the rest of the tyre. Can post a photo if it will help. Cheers Allan
  6. Standard wheels, tyres and suspension. I did some further reading round the forum yesterday and I note that from the first setup that was done in 2005 and the second that was done in 2006 the "specifications" have been changed on the print-outs for this Lexus which I assume came from your figures (although this is not a Lexus dealer), but as you say everything is still within the spec given (Not sure if these numbers mean something to you but the first report is titled "Lexus 2000 GS300 JZS160 S/D" and the second is "Lexus, 2000 GS300 JZS147". I am 99% sure the car has not been bent in any way, even a minor bump. I did speak with the previous owner and he confirmed the car ate tyres when he had it and it went back to Lexus a couple of times for alignment checks but it never improved it. It is a UK car, not an import. I guess it may be worth getting it checked at another place. Where would the closest place be to Leicester? Thanks Allan
  7. Hoping to get some help from where to go from here having seen a post on LOC. Have had a year 2000 Mk2 Lexus GS300SE for a couple of years and during that time has scrubbed the front tyres out on the inner side in under 10K miles. First time it did it I took it for a full geometry check (2005) and a Local wheel and tyre specialist who I was "recommended" who gave me a printout with the following on. Front Caster Left 7.02' Right 7.18' (Before 6.57/7.13) Front Camber Left -0.28 Right -0.20 (Before -0.26/-0.18) Front Toe Left 0.6' Right 0.5' (Before -1.2/0.1) Rear Camber Left -0.52' Right -0.56' (Before -1.25/-1.02) Rear toe Left 0.6' Right 0.3' (Before -0.4/0.1) Thrust angle -0.03 before 0.01 after Secondary angles SAI Left 9.09' Right 8.47' (Before is same) Included angle Left 8.41' Right 8.27' (Before 8.42/8.29) Setback Front -6mm Back -4mm (Before is same) Track Width diff 32mm Wheel base diff -2mm At the following MOT (2006) the front ball joints were diagnosed as gone so had a new pair of those and put a new set of track rod ends on as well as a new set of tyres and went for another alignment but it has still scrubbed the tyres out again. These are the readings from the second setup (same place but this time they either didn't bother doing the lot or had some problems which they didn't tell me about). Front Caster Not done or nothing on the report Front Camber Left -0.18 Right -0.18 (Before -0.24/-0.12) Front Toe Left 0.3' Right 0.3' (Before 2.5/-3.1) Rear Camber Left -1.24' Right -0.54' (Before -1.24/-1.00) Rear toe Left 1.9' Right 0.9' (Before 1.6/-0.9) Thrust angle 0.12 before 0.05 after Secondary angles SAI Not done or nothing on the report Included angle Not done or nothing on the report Setback Front 4mm Back 5mm (Before is same) Track Width diff 26mm Wheel base diff -2mm Are the figures wildly out and where have they gone wrong?? Having found this site I guess it needs re-doing (properly!) but I am not sure where I need to be taking it. Is WIM the same as TDI and where is the nearest recommended place to Leicester? Cheers Allan
