  1. OK cool. Who could you recommend around the Nottingham/Derby area?
  2. Well fully tested the car with a trip to Birmingham and back from Nottingham. Car feels so much more planted, stable and safer at speed! Would I need to get a (proper) wheel alignment check done?
  3. All done. I asked for the details to be on the paperwork. Before and after measurements. According to the counter person it is now measured equal on both sides. Yay! I did not get to test it much driving home due to traffic BUT the car has come back to its former self! It doesn't pull like it used to and feels more positive and solid than before. I just need to get it on the motorway as at 70 it was a bit twitchy before this spring was changed. Once it is fully 'tested' I will report back. Cheers
  4. The car has gone in today for a new spring to be fitted to the OSF. I asked for a geometry report ot show it is true but they could not do it. Instead they will measure before and after (unsure how) and put it on a signed document. What was interesting was that on the notes they said the difference was 5mm !
  5. Thanks Tony I will see if they can measure the geometry. If not then I will need to find a decent place near Nottingham or Derby that does proper geometry setups........
  6. FINALLY! It looks like my chat with customer services on Monday has paid off! Audi called this morning and they have agreed to change the spring and supply a courtesy car! I just can't believe its taken this much to get a result. Cheers all! They would not need to change both springs would they? There is 3500 miles difference. He did say that they would measure the front again and if there was a difference they would look at the other.
  7. Hey guess what? They refused to do the work under warranty. Yay! The poor chap on the other end of the phone must hate me after our 'conversation'. Called customer services and the lady there seems to think I have a case! I was supposed to get a call back today but none as yet. The fight continues...
  8. Its a proper Audi centre and had a full Audi warranty (not some third party warranty). I talked to the AA and they said change in pairs. I also called 6 random audi centres and all but one said they would change in pairs - the one centre was unsure as there was nobody technical available at the time. Its time to tear into them now so come tomorrow morning I will be placing the call.
  9. I am still awaiting the warranty people on making a decision. Jeez...
  10. Good idea Tony. I just can't believe that they are even considering not paying for it.
  11. Results are in. Today my Audi centre got the car on the ramps and checked the bits etc. All seemed fine. Then one of the guys took it out for a spin and came back - he confirmed there was an issue. They then measured the height of both sides. The height on the side of the car that had the spring changed was confirmed to be higher. They also came the conclusion that there is a problem with this and the height difference was what is causing the problems. Now this is where it gets interesting - this centre says that they do not change springs in pairs but in this case they would do. BUT - the warranty people are unsure whether they agree and are undecided on whether they should pay for another spring to be fitted! So its a waiting game now to see what the centre can do. But there is no way I will pay that fee. It was not my fault that the spring snapped and they have basically left my car in a worse state than when it went in (sort of). Hats off to the service guy as he was totally on my side, but I am shocked that this is even something to say yes or no on! I should get a response tomorrow.
  12. I will have a go with this. A work colleague suggested this as well. Are there any known issues with BF Goodrich tyres? Cheers
  13. Tony - could it be possible that my front tyres are causing an issue?
  14. I am going to see what they say on Thursday. If it comes to it I will make a complaint. Hopefully I will not have to go down that road!
  15. I called another Audi centre and said my coil spring had snapped and could I get a quote for fixing it. She said that she could not give me a quote over the phone. So I ask whether I would need both doing or not. She replied "we change coils and shock absobers in pairs". I cannot get a written quote without them see the car though.
  16. No idea. I did relay the information that I got from Audi UK and the centre said it must be wrong as there is nobody technical at Audi UK. Next they will be telling me there is nothing wrong!
  17. I totally agree with you Tony, but I have to follow their process if I want anything done. Hopefully it won't get messy.
  18. Called my local Audi centre. I have to take the vehicle in for a road test and for them to measure the height on either side of the front of the car. They also said that it is not standard to change both springs. Great.
  19. My wife advised me to call Audi UK first and ask what the Audi best practice is for this work. Their technical team said its best practice to change both. Time to call my local Audi centre.
  20. Tape measure in the vertical plane between the wheel arch and the wheel centre..... In truth it's all a bit academic since your distress is the one coil fitment. The ratio between the sprung and un-sprung coils is wrong by many 1000's of miles... They/you need to balance this before any real diagnostics can be voulenteered. Thanks Tony. Much appreciated for your input. A call to Audi is in order tomorrow. Wish me luck...
  21. I am not happy with the 'method' of measurement so I am trying something else.
