  1. Cheers Guys I hope so as the car only has 600 odd miles on the clock and the last thing the missus wants to be doing is forking out for a new tyre already!! Cheers Pete
  2. Guys what do you reckon on this tyre damage, seems to have taken out where the writng is as it were, should we be replacing this? Cheers Pete
  3. Thanks mate, I shall do that. Cheers Pete
  4. Weights appear to be there, so next step at the weekend is to whip out the spare and try each corner and see if I can narrow it down to hopefully just one tyre! Cheers Pete
  5. Thanks for that Tony, had them re-balanced at WIM a few months ago and were found to be out of balance to a fair degree compared to how the local fitter had balanced them, so from what you say that's the best we're gonna get other than changing the tyres then. Cheers Pete
  6. Guys, is it possible that run-out on tyres could cause vibration through the car? reason I ask is the missus has a 1.2 clio and last time I was down at WIM getting the geo' and balancing done one of the guys mentioned there was some run-out on particaularly the rear tyres; what seems to be happening is that when getting to between 50-60 mph there is this vibration coming through the car that is kind of intermittent in that every 10 secs or so you feel it, then it clears for a few secs and so on, sounds a bit bizarre i know!! but this is how it seems to behave, can't remember it doing this before she had these Accelera tyres fitted at a local fitters, any help appreciated. Cheers Pete
  7. Ok Tony will email you later in the week, how much does your refurb Guy charge per wheel? Cheers Pete It depends on the damage? Did you know the likes of Dent-A-Fix also repair wheels and they come to your house/work. Ok cheers for that mate, in that case I 'll probably just get the front tyres and geo done (looking at the accounts all I can afford at the moment LOL!!) and the wheel refurbed at a later date at work or something. Was thinking about some Falkens again as I've got on the Vectra which are the FK452, I see you also do the ZE912, which of the two do you think would be more suitable for th Mazda 6? or is there a different/ better brand more suited to this car. BTW , I was thinking about getting the items done Monday week i.e 9th Aug' is that suitable for you for the Geo etc. Cheers Pete
  8. Ok Tony will email you later in the week, how much does your refurb Guy charge per wheel? Cheers Pete
  9. That sounds promising then Tony, have you managed to sort out the tramlining on these , or is it a case of fiddling about with the tyre pressures? Pick the car up on Monday, so chances are I'll be in contact the following week for an appointment to check the geo if that's ok, and possibly a couple of tyres, also do you still have that Guy come in that does wheel refurb as one of them is scuffed more than i'd like. Cheers Pete

    Mazda 6

Just in the process of part -exing my Vectra for a 2007 Mazda 6, what have I done!!LOL Are there any geometry issues with these? have noticed on the car that there is some outside wear on the tyres (which I think I'll be changing very soon) but hopefully just a tracking issue!! and being a fussy bugger I expect I'll be down to WIM for new tyres , balancing and geometry. Cheers Pete
  11. Thanks for your reply Tony, may well get the car down to you guys to balance and maybe a look at the alignment(if I can tear it away from the missus!!) at least that way I know it's been done properly and on a decent machine, unlike the ones these monkeys have round our way!! Cheers Pete
  12. Anyone had experience of Accelera tyres, missus had some fitted on a short while ago to her 54' Plate Renault Clio, I went to drive it the other day and basically when reaching around 50- 60mph there's this vibration coming through the car that I never noticed when I drove it before she had them on, my first suspicion was wheel balancing, although having said that the vibration also has this feeling of tramping you get if the front alignment is way out e.g both fronts badly toeing in if you see what I mean! but this is not felt through the steering wheel at all, neither is there any wheel wobble at the front, almost sure it's transmitting through from rear, she did however a few days after, have the alignment checked (because the steering felt strange after having the new tyres fitted i.e pulling to one side) and was found to be miles out at the front, which I found strange as before these tyres were fitted there was no pulling and drove straight with hands off wheel an I'm sure there wasn't any of this vibration, anyway after having the alignment done the car drives straight (albeit the bloody steering wheel is off to the left by a few degrees!!) any ideas guys what would be the most likely cause of the problem. Can't help feeling the whole thing is a c**k up between wheel balance and alignment!! Cheers Pete
  13. That's good to know Tony as my brother is picking an IS250 up today (lucky git!!) so if he starts experiencing bad tramlining I'll pass him your way. Cheers Pete
  14. Thanks Tony, so would appear then, that it has Gas and oil in the shockers , I don't know what a state to get into and on a basic clio as well!! Cheers Pete
  15. Does anyone know what the colour code paint marks mean on the front springs for a Renault clio MK2 1.2 16V; had a broken one and bought some new ones which I've fitted , but did notice that the originals have a yellow and red coding on them whereas the new ones have no markings at all, now starting to think that it could be a strength related thing and if that is the case then the new ones may not be up to the job? Cheers Pete
  16. Oh that might bother my brother with regards to snow, as the 5 series beema he had at the beginning of the year had the same issues and couldn't get the car out of his estate for a week!! and was pretty p**sed off about that as he kept reminding me!! Cheers Pete
  17. Cheers guys , it's my brother that's interested in getting one to replace his 3-series BMW that he's having nothing but trouble with!! and will be pleased to hear these IS250's don't have geometry isuues. Cheers Pete
  18. Does the Lexus IS250 tend to have the same geometry issues going on as the IS200 has? Cheers Pete
  19. Thanks for that guys, was thinking about that, only thing is they're directional tyres, not sure i fthat would make any difference for testing purposes, however today on the way home from work remembered where there are some roads with next to no camber and at speeds of around 30-40 mph there doesn't seem to be any creep to the left, so maybe it was the camber of the motorway that was causing it? Cheers Pete
  20. Had wheel alignment done last monday on my Vectra C (silver one DV53....) you may remember Tony? Anyway went on a trip down to Southampton yesterday so was using motorway most of the way and noticed that when on inside lane , if I let go of the steering wheel , it would slowly creep to the left, not violently I hasen to add, now I'm guessing this could be just the effect of camber on the motorway, but don't remember it doing this before the trouble I had with VX fitting that damn tie rod and hence the reason for me coming back down to you last Monday, would it just be the effect of road camber? Cheers Pete
  21. I certainly did for my sins, it was a handy vehicle at the time for lugging things around, unfortunatly haven't got any photos, wish I had now as it was such an unusual vehicle and was in immaculate condition, worth a bit of money now, but not many around now. Cheers Pete
  22. I'd agree with that one, had that on an old Rancho years ago(who remembers them!!) it had a real arse end wiggle at 20mph, distorted tyre, replaced and all was ok . Cheers Pete
  23. Nice one, thanks Tony, just hope it's under 10mm or it's more expense!! Cheers Pete Fact is the chassis is now set so the steering position to some extent is cosmetic..... annoying but cosmetic. Agreed, must stop being such a fussy bugger LOL! after all, as you say it's only cosmetic and not really causing any major issues. Once again thanks for your help mate Cheers Pete
  24. Nice one, thanks Tony, just hope it's under 10mm or it's more expense!! Cheers Pete
