  1. On my Seat Leon Cupra R the best mod was the remap, that was mad, 275bhp from the 1.8T. I didn't need to do anything else to it as it already had the body kit, wheels and Brembo brakes. I miss that car. On the IS220D, has to be the new wheels, they look awesome, not sure about the new springs, I think I might have spoiled the ride for the sake of looks. The 928 is an ongoing thing, as would be with an 18 year old supercar. I think the best was not so much of a mod really, but replacing the ageing suspension with new components restored the cars handling, and stopped it banging the nose spoiler on the ground over speed humps, it was a bit wobbly. I have fitted a new RS steering wheel and am in the middle of replacing the centre exhaust section with a cross over through pipe, which adds some power and frees up the breathing. I am yet to drive it, but from other owners comments, it will be louder and faster in the mid range. Some people have fitted wood trim to the interior, and I for one will be staying away from that route of modification. I may in the future consider importing a supercharger kit from the states. Oh I nearly forgot, actually the best mod was fitting a LSD as that really helps get the power down, but also have to be really careful in the corners!
  2. They look nice, but I had better not try to fit them on my car in case I break something else!
  3. Thanks for the comments, I am very happy with the wheels, they look so much better than the originals. I am now very wary of kerbs, even more so than before as those rims look like they will mark very easily, and will look terrible with the slightest of bumps. Now a warning, I accidentally damaged the gator on the upper ball joint on the front suspension. The gator isn't serviceable so I am going to have to buy a new wishbone assembly.... ouch ouch at £250 SO if you do it yourself be very careful!
  4. Hi, I fitted my new springs over the weekend, and put the new wheels on at the same time. I used the 30mm drop UK spec springs, and the wheels are ASA two piece W21 8x18 and 9x18 with Falken FR452 tyres. The ride is certainly stiffer, and I think the car has some more settling to do, as I had only driven it about 3 miles before taking the after shots. I did notice that the ground was nearer when I got out after the drive, an odd feeling how we can notice even a small difference by the extension of a limb! I think the new tyres make more road noise, but this may settle when they wear in a bit, and I also had some vibration this morning at motorway speed, but that seemed to get better after a few miles; it did worry me for a while (having thoughts that I had forgotten to tighten something!) Before; After; I will take some more pictures when I have cleaned the car, and have some more time in week. Also when the light is better (as I just noticed looking at these) Give it a few miles and will get the geometry checked too. I think the wheels look really nice and will have to be kept clean all the time!
  5. Hello, Thanks for the replies, I am not sure how to set to email me when answers are put on a subscribed thread, and I forgot to check back. Anyway, I have my springs, they might be US spec as it says progressive on the box, not fitted yet though... Also got the wheels on Friday last week, again not fitted, but they look great, can't wait to get it all done, and I will post some pictures. I have been delayed as I started some work on the Porsche and not had chance to finish that so it is in the way up on stands at the moment. The Lexus is in for 20K today and they may replace some of the wheels because of some corrosion so I thought it best to leave as is until after that. I went with the tyre sizes the supplier suggested. Will update when I get it all fitted. Thanks
  6. I am going to buy some new 18" ASA W21 Rims. The sizes available in staggered are 8J +et35 and 9J +et38. which are the ones recommended as a fit for my car. The problem is the seller is telling me I need 255/35/18 on the rear, as it wont fit a 255/40/18. (fitting a 225/40/18 on the front). With a tyre calculator comparing to my current OEM 17" I have worked out that the front will be 0.46% larger circumference which is nominal really, but with the tyre they recommend for the rear will be -2.54% smaller circumference, whereas the 40 profile is 1.36% bigger. They said I can have the 40 at my own risk as the 40 is 8.5J oem fit only, but why? what is the problem, with the offset and tyre size is there a chance that it will hit the arch? The offset increases the distance from the hub by 18mm on the rear and moves the wheel outwards by 10mm on the front. I am also lowering the car onto Eibach euro spec (25-30mm drop) springs. Do you think are they right, or should I be looking elsewhere for my new rims?
