  1. Hi again Tony, not to worry about Friday, next date I have free is Friday 29th June. Let me know : ) David
  2. Sorry you cannot make it. I was looking forward to measuring the car again. Next Friday should be fine but i will need conformation. Hi again Tony, sorry for the short notice but I will be able to make it down to you Friday. For between 12 and 1? Does that suit? Let me know (paz3293 at yahoo dot com) David
  3. Sorry Tony, can't make Friday afterall. Will try sort out another date. Maybe next Friday? How are you fixed for then? David
  4. Hi again Tony, apologies for just dissapearing and not following this up. I've since had the tyres replaced (although that was a dodgy tail in itself involving dodgy Thai spec Eagle F1s http://www.mx-5.com/Community/forums/ShowT...px?PostID=20483 ). I didn't keep hold of the old tyre I'm afraid though, but did take some photos (on my pc at home so can't post them here just now). It's really difficult to see in the photos the problems with the tyre though. Suffice to say the centre of the tyre about four inches wide had worn right down, but the outers hadn't. For info when I've changed the tyres its both the passenger side tyres that I've had to change, the rear one that was the problem and the front one too had more wear than either the two on the drivers side of the car. The rear drivers side one is now on the front passenger side and the two new ones on the rear). Can I arrange to come down and see you again Tony - for a checkup and re-adjustment if required. The place that changed the tyres recently did say the rear wheel in question looked odd to them. They couldn't say why (did't have any aligmnent equipment) they just said it sort of looked odd. Surely its not possible to tell by sight alone if something is a mm out! I was hoping to come down Friday 1st June, around lunchtime. If this is any good for you Tony? Cheers David
  5. Leave it with me Tony, I need to think when I can make it down and when you can slot me in. Could the way I take roundabouts cause this? Being the tyre taking the most wear? Can't see that... Might see if I can take a shot of the wear of both rears and post here to see what you think. Thanks for the offer to pay for the tyre very good of you, but I saw you do the job and it all seemed right on paper. Just wonder if its strayed way off since (doesn't feel like it has) just can't work out the odd wear. Cheers, I'll be in touch David
  6. Something is obviously wrong! For me to complete the picture can you display/pm the cars registration number so i can review the calibration. Immediately i have to be defencive since Geometry positions cannot favor the centre of the tyre solely. I have to ask if the calibration felt wrong why did you not contact me?..... Nevertheless is there is any question wim has failed i will pay for the tyre replacement without animosity. In terms of why I didn't get in touch, I've guess I'd kind of learned to live with it, assuming this was how it was meant to feel... That and knowing I wouldn't be down to Watford any time soon (I'm in Leeds). It was only recently when I took all four wheels off to have a good wheel scrub and back polish did I notice the tread was looking so bad. To be honest it handles very well, just some days it wants to pull to the kerb and feels numb around the centre, that combined with the steering wheel not being centered. It could be a trait of the mk3 and the big 17" wheels, perhaps I should have let you drive it before I left? The wheel centre thing really irritates me...its close but not perfect... Either way, the reg was MX51 OFF - you did the settings according to the one's I brought with me from the US Miata forum inteded for lowered mk3s (taking into account my actual ride height). I might see if I can book a day off work and come down for you to take a look, guess its worth it for the sake of 400 miles and a tank of fuel! David
  7. I had my alignment done on my lowered mk3 MX-5 at WIM in December last year and have done around 5000 miles since then, at the time I had my current Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres on that had done around 4000 miles on at the time of the alignment. Now my rear passenger side tyre is virtually on the wear indicators and needs replacing whereas ALL the other three tyres are fine with plenty of tread left. What could be wrong? I've not hit anything to knock the alignment out or anything, but have never really been happy with the car since it was done. I live hundreds of miles away from WIM so I can't just nip to get it done, but if I'm shredding tyres like this I'm going to have to have the alignment done again soon. The wear is mostly to the centre of the tyre -- not either edge. BTW I checked tyre pressure and it was 30psi all round (Ive since dropped it to 29psi in the hope to slow down any more wear). Any ideas? David www.mazdamx5.co.uk
