  1. Had a service done today and the inspection for the tyres were as follows:

Front right: Inner 3 Middle 6 outer 4

Front left: Inner 3 Middle 6 outer 4

Rear left: Inner 3 Middle 5 outer 4

Rear right: Inner 3 Middle 6 outer 4

Is the discrepency on the Middle R/Left because of over inflation?

Im not that worried about it as they seem to be wearing quite evenly. :D

    cheers.

    :o

Over on one tyre seems unlikely.. Assuming it is the same make of tyre then i would think it's a 'typo' by the technician.... out if interest what pressure are you using... the 33psi (stock) or the 35psi (wim)

pete, if you had the service done at lexus croydon, i would suggest putting the report adjacent to your toilet , and use it for its only use

it was lexus croydon that measured my tyres unequally, ranging from 5 to 6

really strange as they were all brand new and had only covered about 30 miles :D

  2. Peugeot 206cc

    But something is odd....

Try this experiment: Hold your left hand out as if to shake someones hand, now place a finger from your right hand on the left palm near the wrist.. now rotate your left hand toward the right in an attempt to lay it flat.... what direction did the left hands fingers go... left or right?

If explained correctly they have gone left.... This is a simulation of the camber leaning due to the bend and the toe moving due to the position of the steering arm.

    mine went right :D

when you said "toward the right" i thought you meant toward the right !!

  3. Bazza remember i mentioned the Primera Torsion Panhard System.... this is it :D

I thought i would try loading the nsr and measure the displacement :D ..... there was none :D

    nsr= 32mm

    osr= 32mm

wow ! thats a bit of technology

i want one like that now, painted in pretty colour though :)

shows that they are doing something, these things tend to get dismissed, being on the back of a front wheel drive car, a lot of people are on the concept that the back just follows the front, :o

  4. Aww you're making me blush now :D :D

'Stop it'.... now tigger is blushing.....

Fact is this....... Most people cannot detect or read the difference in the set-up...... you do have the ability to command absolute requirements, i admire that! Future events validate what i am saying, be proud of yourself you are a very wise lady indeed  ........ Oh and can i stick a wim banner on your car? i will pay millions, less deductions.

:D can i have one , ill wear it with pride ......honest :D

  5. why would you want to wheelspin ??

cant think of any beneficial reason other than trying to impress the local under 10`s

you would be far better off working on how not to wheelspin :)

Being a somewhat mechanically sympathetic chap i've tended to keep my wheelspinning to a minimum over the years and never really spent anytime 'investigating' due to fear or clutch / drivetrain damage. I do however drive a Civic Type R so wheelspins are somewhat involuntary at times (and purposeful others.)
When you're trying to launch a 200bhp FF car at an angle without a LSD wheelspins happen! I was after knowing what was going on with the wheel hop.

    fair enough

on my 172bhp fwd it just spins !, no hopping, no bouncing, may be down to having rock hard damping, and being very light, and its like that on toyos r888`s and toyo t1s`s :)

as for trying with 200bhp ...ill let you know next month :P

  6. Hhhmmm........reason i asked is a m8 said there was 2 rounds left at Silverstone and 1 at a.nother.

Got a linky poos Bazz

    Round 6 ( Silverstone October 1st ) - Cancelled

Round 6 (Silverstone October 1st) has been cancelled. The D1GB and Time Attack will now be a 5 round Championship and Series respectively with the final being held at Rockingham, Round 5 on Sept 17th, headlined GT Battle as planned above.

Andy Barnes added ‘ Round 6 has been cancelled due to transportation risks for the D1GB competitors. The 5 top scoring drivers from D1GB are to be shipped out to the USA with their cars for the big showdown in Irwindale CA for a USA vs. Japan vs. Europe D1 event which takes place in early December 2006. Transportation lead times and car preparation leaves little time for delays therefore we have no choice but to cancel Round 6 to ensure that our drift drivers have enough time to prepare for the All-Star match in December where we hope they will shine-on to show just what Europe can produce on an International playing field as they battle their rivals from around the world. ‘

It is anticipated that a demo/post Championship/Series event will be held in place of Round 6 which is to be confirmed at a later date once a suitable venue and date is located.

All alterations have been made are in the interest of the Championship and Series respectively. All other dates/venues are now confirmed and n

  7. I think many of us know about the poor manufacturer's geometry setup on the Lexus IS.......are there any other manufacturers and models whose initial geom is bad?

Yep recent example has been the Mazda MX5... 3000 miles on the clock and the handling was so poor the customer feel the need to have the car checked..... i did and ten angles needed correcting.... needless to say the report and bill is going back to Mazda.....

That was me!! and yes Mazda did a letter and a copy of the bill, in return i got the cost fully refunded and a letter in return full of remorse!! we have now just ordered another MX5 mk3 for the misses and just to see if Mazda have sorted this problem it will be booked in with tony the day we pick it up to see it things have improved , if not another letter and bill will be sent to Mazda !!! apart from that we love the car ! lol

that seems very fair of mazda

dont think lexus would be the same

  8. tony

    do you fit it ?

    or should i ?

will book it in as soon as i get the clutch sorted  and invent a job to visit nearby

Let me do it.... i'm sure your car needs a fine tune anyway....... Fridays are always good!

cool will let you know :o

  9. Indeed the wheels is a little 'hurt'.... One for Discounts i think!

The Panhard rod fitting and setting was easy you have a 21mm parallelogram alignement per side, this was done in one hit so in truth i learned nothing...

As for the Geo positions the pillow adjusters allowed generous corrections but the NSF camber was very bad.. The final correctional position was then mirrored at the OSF... The KPI balance is not good and can be easily corrected using the EZ cam adjuster bolt, with this the KPI can become balanced then the pillow adjusters set back to a symmetrical position.... This very example was visible with bazzas Starlet....

The result now is over-steer, you wait and see how she drives with a balanced KPI and less front camber

    great stuff

hey tony, how does it compare to mine ?

Your Geometry has much better balance but....... He has a Panhard you don't :P

    yet

I actually know of somone who can set the Panhard position to the nearest 1mm..... It's ....Me :)

    bloody good job too

    guess what

your going to have another one to do very shortly :)
