  1. Google search reveals:

DB Fletcher tables fetch between $25,000 and $50,000.

and are made in the UK :o

they are more than happy to ship a Capstan Table anywhere in the world. With each shipment, a DB Fletcher technician will arrive on site to assemble the table and make sure it is in proper working order.

  2. sounded great to me :bananapopcorn:

looks like he was doing it for the camera............ such an obliging chap !!

London is full of young Arabs in supercars and to hear them revving the nuts out of them is quite common

however I can understand that some people might get annoyed with it

If some little chav sat there revving up his corsa, most people here would give a similar reaction

  3. I think I had better buy myself a proper brake bleeding kit in case I get caught out like this again, any recommendations? The Eezibleed seems the best one but seems pricey for what is essentially a plastic bottle and clear tubing?

Also how long does brake fluid last once opened?

get yourself a bit of hose and a glass jam jar, tried and tested method cheap and effective, only downside is you need a second person to push the brake pedal

once opened and exposed to air it starts absorbing water, even in a half full sealed tin ! so use and throw is the best policy

  4. on the Starlet I found that by uprating the front alone it produced more understeer

when matching the rear to the front it reduced it, but didnt overcome it

by then reducing the front to below oem size and ratings it produced a neutral handling with no dramatic over or understeer

by experimenting you find things out, that on paper shouldnt work !

    :P

  5. I do think they should maybe educate the average pedestrian

seems the onus is as usual on the motorists, do they actually teach kids "road safety" nowadays or is it "how to claim compensation"

I have watched mothers herding kids across roads when there is a crossing 20 yards away, and so many times people oblivious to the fact they are on a road

  6. Amazing photos, I would like to see us Brits do that in a year. I wonder what they did will all of the debris?

they sorted it and then piled it up, ready for recycling !

if you check out google earth you can see it in certain areas

for interest: in Tokyo the buildings were not particularly affected, being quite a distance from the epicentre, but anything that wasn't built on firm foundations sunk around 6 inches, the streets and pavements are full of strips of tarmac allowing the different levels to be levelled out

pics taken by a friend in Jan 2012

in all these pictures the surfaces used to be flat !

Brits !!....well how long did it take us to sort the roads after the snow and ice of 2010/2011, oh thats right we still haven't finished

  7. Is it 5 stud or 4 stud ??

The stock Evo tyre size is 225/45/17 so perhaps a Evo space saver would suit , many people just chuck them away

As for going into limp home mode thats common for 4wd cars

    5 stud

the spare I have is from an Evo, was being chucked as the Evo was to become a track car

it is 4wd but can be switched to 2wd

  8. for a 215/60/17 tyre

what would be the suitable temporary tyre size ?

would a 125/70/16 be suitable as i have one of those spare

I dont like the idea of a can of squirty stuff, it will never fill up if there is a considerable hole and as far as i know they require the tyre to be repled after use

I think you need to be careful on this, a friend had rear tyres changed on his Merc, they fitted slightly different sizes on the rear axle, diff thought there were problems with the rotational speed so the ECU went into limp mode.

Took him ages to work out what the problem was!

Don't know if Lexus has the same sort of thing.

    h

this is only for the spare in case of emergency, it limits driving speed to 50mph, but I believe its better than being stuck on the side of the road, especially if I have the trailer on the back

Its on a Mitsubishi ASX strangely in Europe they dont come with a spare, yet in other countries they get a space saver or in some a full sized spare !

Mitsubishi want £168 for a space saver !

seems to me another way of cutting costs, they throw all the attractive goodies in but leave a basic emergency item out

According to the tyre size calculator we have here in wim  the percentage difference is 2.488% so within limits.

    cool,

saves paying a fortune for another one and I can have piece of mind :o

  9. These brakes are from a Mayback, a type of born again Merc.... New to me is the twin front callipers :D

Sorry for the poor image but you can just make them out....

Probably needs them too. How much do those things weigh??

    about 2800 kg !

    powerful though 0-60 around 5 secs :)
